Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only thing I have complain about is it was windy and at the end we’re the double bed is there was a constant banging which I think could of been a branch or something but apart from that it was all good
Couldn’t ask for anything else, everything was there that you needed, the best pod we have stayed in by far

United KingdomLike other people have said, some instructions would have been useful for the combined oven, grill and microwave, as well as the TV. WiFi was intermittent at best, and we could only get it in bed. There need to be signs from the road saying where the pods are.
This is the best pod we have ever stayed in. There was everything we needed for a really comfortable stay. Unlike other pods, which are glorified sheds, this was a home from home. The weather wasn't kind to us, but the pod was warm and cosy. The mattress was better than mattresses you get in hotels. There was plenty of really practical storage (despite other comments I've read). Martin was lovely, too. The location is perfect for a peaceful retreat. We had a beautiful view over open fields, and the night sky was stunning. The Railway Inn is great for food.

United KingdomI wasn't happy with the pod we were given - wasn't clean enough for my liking. I got in touch with someone who apologised and moved us to a bigger pod which was much cleaner. Good customer service.
Nice location and the pods are lovely. They have everything you would need.

This beautiful getaway pod was perfect for our one night escape. In a remote setting, we still had a short ‘one mile’ drive amenity to a nearby shop and local fish shop. With a 8 minute drive to the seafront, it gave us the perfect spot within the small town of Aldbrough for a dog walk along the coastal path. The pod was quiet, tranquil, and over looked amazing views across the farmland. It was clean, tidy, cozy and perfect when leaving the busy day to day schedule. Would love to come back and the host was attentive with our booking communications and on site when we met. Thank you.

United KingdomCarlton manor pods were perfect for our family weekend away, the pods had everything we needed. They were modern and clean and had just the right facilities for what we needed. It's so peaceful and the surroundings are beautiful. The pods are a few minutes drive from the nearest village Aldbrough where there's a lovely pub the George and dragon we ate at, the food was amazing. Mappleton beach is also only a short drive and is lovely for a long walk. We will definitely be returning.

United KingdomThe combi oven microwave wasn’t that straightforward to use, some instructions for it would be useful. I think the pod would benefit from being equipped with a couple more ‘every day’ cleaning products, like a surface spray and a cloth. Check in wasn’t so simple, as booking.com were meant to send us a key safe code and never did. It took us half an hour to contact the owner and get into the property because of this, however they were very apologetic.
The pod was lovely, the view out the back from the decking was gorgeous. It was clean and tidy, and spacious enough to be comfortable. Plenty room for myself, my partner and our Labrador. Very comfy bed, lovely quiet area with no disturbances. Very close to Mappleton Beach, which we visited every day it was so lovely. Great fish and chip shop in the village about 5 minute drive from the pods. Underfloor heating kept the pod nice and cosy. Friendly cleaners :) we will definitely be back!

United KingdomNot keen on the 3 legged chairs at the dining table as they are a bit wobbly, the kids (and my wife) nearly fell off on more than one occasion.
Bigger than expected, lovely and warm even though it was freezing outside. The staff are very helpful and easy to talk to. Felt more like a mini lodge than a camping pod. The beds are probably the most comfortable beds that we have EVER slept in.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn't like was the fact we didn't stay longer. We will definitely be visiting for longer next time.
The location was absolutely beautiful, and the hosts go above and beyond for you. The pod itself is very Morden and spotlessly clean. The area around the pod is lovely, it's well lit up at night time which looks magical. The view from the decking is just stunning.

United KingdomNo standard TV channels, but you could log in to Prime or Netflix if you had an account and also YouTube and iPlayer etc. we weren't there to watch TV though. A simple instruction sheet for the heating and combi oven would've been handy, but we figured things out. These are very minor gripes!
Lovely quiet location for a night away. The room was warm and spotlessly clean, and it felt like we were miles from anyone else (Pod 7) as we were tucked away in the corner of the site.
