Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSlightly expensive drinks at the bar
Gorgeous place. Room was amazing. Food in the restaurant was so lovely. Drinks a little expensive at the bar, but overall brilliant stay and my husband loved it for his birthday gift!

United KingdomOur only slight complaint is that the shower pressure was extremely weak and unpleasant to shower in. This let down the bathroom which looked great. The parking was very awkward, there are 2 car parks, one was clearly filled up by staff cars which meant there were no spaces available when we arrived and we had to park along the road, and move the car later. I think it would be better to have the cooked breakfast included in the room rate with every stay as the continual bits and bobs in the room didn't really work. The croissants were not fresh by the morning and fridge in the room was very noisy, so we eventually had to turn it off for the night.
The room was clean and comfortable and had beautiful features from the castle. The view was incredible and the garden and restaurant were also comfortable and beautiful. The food was superb and the staff were very polite and friendly.

United KingdomIt could do with a little upgrading- for example bathroom door didn’t shut and shower is very basic. They couldn’t arrange early breakfast for us, which is a shame for what we paid.
Excellent location with fabulous views on the surroundings. Good for walking/ biking. Very clean. Fabulous pub. Friendly staff.

United KingdomThe skirting looked worn, as do many bed and breakfast rooms. Could do with some TLC.
I stayed at the Castle Inn Edgehill on my own, the night before my wedding. The following night, I stayed there with my new wife, so two nights in all. I stayed in their smallest room, which would have been too small for some, but for a couple travelling light, it was perfect in that it was so cosy and bijoux. Breakfast was included as well. The surroundings and the view over the lower ground below the Castle Inn were spectacular. Quite surreal.

United KingdomThe bed dips in the middle so it’s a little uncomfortable and the fridge in the room is very very noisy so wakes you up. If possible it should be in the lounge area to avoid this
Our stay was absolutely beautiful! We stayed here for our wedding at Primrose Hill Farm which is just down the road. The groom and best man stayed the night before in the room where they were able to set up the sofa bed for him. It’s a stunning room with beautiful natural light and details. We had a minor issue where the groom left the room key in a car at the venue but the night porter came out to us within 15 minutes to open the door and help pick up our friends who had decided to walk back to the venue… Thank you so much for your hospitality! The continental breakfast was beautiful and the little sign for us was lovely

GermanySmall and homely and private. Everyone was friendly and make the stay great.
It was a lovely little hotel/guesthouse with great pub and restaurant combined. When in the area again, will definitely chose to stay there. Breakfast (included) was first class, hoping next time I stay, that English marmalade is available !!.

We're from Australia, so staying in a castle is a first for us. It's very spacious and so warm. A lovely restaurant in the building. Lovely staff that had a wealth of knowledge about the history of the area

AustraliaNothing. The Castle is a gem in a great location.
Great relaxed atmosphere in a quiet rural setting. Rooms are solid stone, well appointed and spotlessly clean. Staff are genuinely friendly, very helpful and attentive. The accommodation is separate to the pub/restaurant so is calm and quiet. Whereas the pub has a vibrant friendly atmosphere.
