Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe stayed in the loft style room, and when we had the skylight open, we noticed the food smell from the fan extractor. The smell was nice, but stuck to our clothing. Not a deal-breaker for us, but thought it was worth mentioning.
Views of the necropolis. Food in attached restaurant.

United StatesDidn’t get clean sheets my first night, the mattress is quite uncomfortable, and the walls are paper thin.
The aesthetic charm of this hotel and its rooms, along with the unparalleled views from the room windows made this place amazing. The bathroom was very well equipped and modern, and the soaking tub was a treat.

United KingdomIt was a tad noisy at night with the cars but with old building I was expecting it. The door to my en-suite bathroom wouldn’t close or lock so I used a chair to ensure it would close when I was using it.
Nice old property, really close to the centre of the town ideal location. Easy to fine and access with the information sent. Lovely facilities and shower.

United KingdomNone of these things would stop us coming again but given the high standard of everything else the hotel might want the following feedback. The shower door was a bit tricky. I couldn’t open it from inside and needed my other half to come and rescue me! It looked like the handle was perhaps on the wrong way round? The handles were also missing from the drawers in the desk in the room so they couldn’t be used. Fine for us as only staying a night but made the room seem not as grand as the rest of the furniture suggests. The tea tray with the kettle is no where near the two sets of plug sockets. So only option is boiling the kettle on the floor beside the bed or faffing around to reach the plug socket under the desk. It’s small details like this that make the difference between a good hotel and an exceptional one. For the price we paid I was happy with good but given the beautiful building and the high standards of everything else, there is so much potential for this place to be exceptional.
Room was comfortable and very clean. Lovely old building and it was great to stay somewhere walking distance to the city centre that isn’t a big chain hotel. Really liked the decor in the bathroom and lots of nice touches. Great biscuits and toiletries. Enjoyed our breakfast too - once we’d got over the shock of it not being a Scottish fry up we were delighted by how fresh and good quality the ingredients were. And the home made bread was delicious. Laura the host is wonderful and made us feel very welcome and special mention also to the lovely housekeeper. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

United KingdomThe breakfast had a limited choice which if you are not a fussy eater, would be quite appetising and enjoyable. Given this, the hotel were very accommodating and offered alternatives that were not on the menu to meet the desires of the guest.
It was in a perfect location, 10 minutes walk away from the station but not directly in the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The room was cosy, which made good use of the space and the bed was exceptionally comfortable.

United KingdomThere was a bit of confusion on arrival as there was no one there and the pin code I'd been given didn't work to open the door. The phone number given went to voicemail and the box was full so I was unable to leave a message. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful though and the hotel contacted me later via text to make sure everything was okay.
The room we stayed in was beautiful with stunning views of Glasgow and the Necropolis. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and although I didn't use it, I loved the free standing bath tub. The room was furnished to a high specification and was immaculately clean.

United KingdomWhat a historical building and in such great condition. Room was spacious and filled with water, teas etc. Breakfast was a lovely continental which I didn’t expect to love as much as I did. Location is excellent and communication from the owner was brilliant in making sure I knew how to access the property. Amazing stay and took a wander around the Glasgow necropolis whilst there which was visible from my room. Will stay again.

United KingdomPillows. We needed extra pillows but had no way of speaking to someone to get pillows unless we called a mobile number to someone out with the hotel. We loved the breakfast but not everyone likes being told what they are having and not given any options.
Location. Rooms were perfect for what we needed. Amazing shower. You had a key for the room and a pin number for the door to come and go. The breakfast was lovely and fresh. We are not picky so it was perfect for us.

United KingdomI didn't realise our room would be at the top, and it is a lot of steps with a leg injury.. buy again, worth it for the beautiful room.
It was a beautiful room with views across the necropolis and cathedral. Breakfast was lovely as well. It's a little further out than we would normally go, but we'll worth the extra walk to be staying in a part of Glasgow that you walk/drive past without noticing.
