Place was closed when we went back and we had to go right round other buildings to get to rear door somewhere to get in, and reception not manned in case of emergency. Not up to standard for any hotel with guests regardless of price paid for room. Would not even recommend this for back packers, a hostel would be better. Yo top it all we tried to get into reception in the morning to hand in the key, door to reception locked. We had to leave round the back of the hotel and try to find somewhere to deposit key. Before we headed off. Your write up saying only 6 miles from where we wanted to was way out, edit your write up to 12+ miles.

when I booked it, it flagged up Horley, which we went ahead and booked drove to..i telephoned after realising it was forest row. I telephoned the hotel to see if I could be refunded to be told there was nothing they could do. It ruined the whole planned evening. I expected as I contacted straight away a refund. The staff was very unhelpful. I booked the chequers through recommendation. .

For the price ,it's great , but dated .

Amazing old English tavern , any problems were quickly sorted ,and comfy bed ,clean hot shower . This place will become brilliant again and deserves to have some investment in it. Loved it, and great to hear from Claudio that the restaurant will e reopened soon

Communication with customers left a lot to be desired. Unable to gain access to room at time required. Only one person on duty, not conactable when needed.

No breakfast. Quiet location more so as it was Sunday. Nice old traditional building.

The hotel is in a good relaxing sleep area , with good access to shops. Hotel is well equipped with everything you need to have a good stay and adjoining bar is great. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Rooms were extremely dated and mismatch. Stains on pillow cases. No towels in room. Previous customer had left belongings and hygiene nasties, used in the drawers. We did not even stay, we ended up leaving our plans and travelled back home due to the dissatisfaction of the room.

This is without doubt the worse hotel we have ever stayed in in UK! the pictures are nothing like the reality. The rooms are tacked on the back of the hotel in an aging annexe which is dirty and feels very unsafe On arrival the receptionist could not even be bothered to look up and greet us We asked for a second towel as we had only been supplied with one it never appeared You had to be back in the hotel by 21:30 otherwise you had to negotiate the people out the back, drinking and smoking on the landing! The room itself was outdated and dirty Bathroom was not nice I can't believe the hotel had the audacity to charge the 150 odd for two nights, it is not even worth staying here for free! We left after the first night as it was so awful! In short don't go there its not like the pictures!

Sad that it cannot provide full service due to lack of staff. I can imagine how wonderful it would have been.

Property is situated in along the road but was still quiet. Beds are soft & comfortable. The owner was also very nice. It is actually a property with so much potential. unfortunately, the owner doesn't have staff to help him him provide full service as such keeping the bar & kitchen going. Hence, it is basically a place to sleep. Not a problem though since there are café's just outside of the hotel.

Friendly reception, clean room. For £57, it was excellent value. Yes, they don't like to switch the lights on (I had to use my torch to navigate to the stairs), but it was a nice, quiet and well situated hotel.

The lack of a second towel and tea / milk could have been avoided. However, the lady operating reception - who was very welcoming and cheerful - was also covering the bar, so these lapses were understandabel.

An adequately spacious room with a comfortable bed, working television and wifi, kettle and coffee-making facilities. While there was initially only one towel and no milk, this was rectified immediately on visiting the receptionist. Given that the cost of the room was half that of the usual hotel chains, 2 star accommodation was expected and that was what we got. Unlike some others, we found all lights, radiators etc were fully functional.

Unfortunately the restaurant is not open as they can't get a chef, only ever saw 2 members of staff. Could have been a little cleaner in the room and there was only 1 towel. We asked for another but it never came.

Lovely old hotel in need of some TLC. 2 members of staff were very friendly. Room was comfortable and a good size.
