How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The height of the side of the bath for a shower was unsafe and the light in the bathroom was not sufficient

Booking process through booking.com The site wouldn't accept any cards for the discounted rate The hotel wouldn't honour that rate I ended up having to pay more than the published rate There is a £25 a night charge for a dog The website says every room is dog friendly There's no indication in any of. The booking process that there will be any causes for a dog On the contrary it looks to all the world that dogs go free Infact we were told that up to very recently that was the case Free dog was a significant part of our decision to book chewfoeld

Couple of times had to ask for small items that should have been left in room toilet rolls, sugar, towels

The room service food sadly arrived cold and we waited a long time for it to arrive. It was fairly pricey but just wished it was warm/hot when it arrived. It would have been good to have some streaming services or more modern TV options - this wasn’t a big issue though.
A good comfortable stay. The breakfast was lovely, the swimming pool was on the smallish side but wasn’t a problem - it was a pre-bookable 45 minute splash session for kids as it was half-term but we were allowed to stay longer as it was quiet (which was really appreciated). :) This was a family trip with two young toddlers/children, the kids splash times end at 7pm but this is great for adult only guests wanting to swim in peace and quiet - so everyone is happy. All staff were very friendly too. Great little box of garden games for the kids. It was handy that room service for the main menu is on until 9.30pm which enabled us to swim longer and grab food after.

Everything was as expected.
Breakfast room is impressive, well stocked and all good quality food. Staff very friendly across the entire hotel (restaurant, bar, reception, spa/pool). Really enjoyed the pool.

Had to wait a long time in restaurant due to a large party. Food lovely.
Great location for looking at universities. Lovely Comfortable bedrooms and nice bar restaurant areas. Leisure facilities good.

Half term splash time for kids in the hotel pool but other than that it was very relaxing

The staff and overall stay was fantastic , it was very unfortunate there was an electrical issue with the wire on the free standing lamp and I got an electric shock , which did upset me , I reported it to reception, it deal with the issue . Housekeeping , was very accommodating and efficient, in helping me .

The towel rail in the bathroom wasn't working (said it failed 6 months ago) minor thing but bit of a shame as would have been nice to dry our towels. Also would have been good to have the option to upgrade your TV package / buy films / have TV with the right connector so you could stream from your phone..... As terrestrial TV is a bit rubbish! 😀
Big thank you to the maintenance guy (?Josh / George) who came in on Sunday his day off to break into our safe when it broke. We cannot thank him enough for rescuing all my epilepsy meds that were trapped inside, and rescuing us along with it! That really was above and beyond

We have stayed here at least 50 times so we're surprised that the breakfast finished at 9.30 not 10.00. No heating in the room. Or at least no instructions on how to get heating in the room.
The dinner service on the lawn was excellent.

The whites of the fried eggs were still jelly like sausages were tough and bacon had little flavour.
