Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomConfused when the address on Booking.com says 33 Haystacks, that is where you collect the keys from, the accommodation is actually 35 Haystacks above the steak house. It was on the 3rd floor, the lift was out of order, due to refurbishment, this was not mentioned at all on the listing. This meant a 70, yes i counted them, step hike each time. Lucky for me i am healthy and fit but for others this would have easily been a show stopper. The door to the apartment looks to have been forced a number of times. The only working lock was flimsy and could easily be opened with a plastic card so not very secure. there was no dead lock key that fitted the additional lock. There was a key but it didn't fit. The area was noisy till about midnight and there was only standard double glazing. I had to fiddle with the left window catch to get it to close, someone with out DIY knowledge would have struggled to get it closed. The living room blinds could not be closed at all and the mass of street light advertising boards ensured the apartment was well lit at all times. I had to ask for additional toilet rolls as only 2 small part used ones where provided. The bed, though appeared clean, did not have a mattress protector on and the sheet barely covered the mattress. Shower drain cover is broken and if the cover is over it will cause the water to stay in the tray and not go down the trap. The floor is a bit tatty in places from a poor repair i suspect. It is generally worn with lots of empty boxes in cupboards
Central location, good to see the sights nearby and shopping if you like that. Complete apartment for use, near to the underground.

Singapore1. Poor communication from host. They whatsapp'ed check in instructions but did not respond to me throughout my stay until checkout through another number. 2. The building was under maintenance and the lift wasn't working. No workmen came to work on the building throughout our 4 night stay so I doubt it'll be fixed any time soon. The apartment (#11) is on the 3rd floor so it was a struggle with our big bags. 3. There were 3 of us and the 3rd person had to sleep on a couch/sofa-bed in the living room. There was a sheet over the stained couch. No blanket or proper pillows. I ended up having to buy a blanket! 4. The drainage in the shower was poor and would flood every time someone used the shower 5. The noise at night! To be expected because of the location but it was more noisy than expected; even at 3am!
The ONLY thing good about this apartment is the location - very central, near Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Chinatown etc.

IrelandThe instructions to collect the keys were inaccurate and difficult to understand. A generic street name was referred to instead of the precise location. When I contacted them for assistance I was met with an extremely inpatient and hostile woman, who attempted to blame me for their inaccurate directions and address. This hostile welcome made me concerned about the stay, so I did not leave anything valuable there when I was out. When I was leaving I asked them where they wanted me to leave the key, upon receiving no answer, I left the key on the countertop and left. I then received a call and text messages from an unknown foreign number asking me where the key was and that they couldn't find it, again attempting to blame me. I thought something like this may happen so I had taken a photo of the keys on the counter, and sent it to the sender of that message.
Location.
