Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI can see from lots of the reviews over the years a mention of the shower, this could definitely do with being upgraded very soon, it’s an old electric shower and the water pressure wasn’t great and we noticed on arrival that the bath panel outside had crack in it, more cosmetic than anything as didn’t leak from what we could see. However the bathroom was very clean overall, the window was drafty at night. The patio garden is very pretty and equipped with a table set and loungers but do be aware there is some noise and cooking smells from the fans from the hotel kitchen next door, we didn’t sit out anyway as it wasn’t warm enough so that didn’t impact us too much on this trip. Booking.com says it’s a beachfront property but it is set very much in the village right next to the church. A very pretty little location but a ten minute stroll to the nearest beach so this was a little misleading. Otherwise everything made for a really good little stay so would recommend.
The house is very spacious especially downstairs, great big living room and fabulous kitchen and range coooker which was a real bonus, overall very clean and the kitchen was very well equipped, had everything we needed. Pet friendly too which is an added bonus and plenty space for our two dogs. The location was fabulous, Beadnell is a beautiful village and perfect position for exploring the sites. Beadnell Bay is utterly beautiful.

United KingdomIdeal location in the heart of beadnell, ticked the boxes for us we wanted a quiet relaxing weekend. Very quiet at night, parking outside ample for 2 cars. Hotel directly behind us serving excellent Sunday dinners and craster arms literally a 10m away. We took 2 dogs with us and was ideal, as back garden is paved and enclosed so they could go out and play in safety without the thought of bringing dirt back in the house

United KingdomOutside area at rear, sitting out wasn’t possible due to cooking smells from hotels. Small bistro table and chairs out front would be ideal, and give guests better area to sit outside

United KingdomThe shower was very poor would benefit from a better brand with a better kilowatt output (this is the what we do for a living we design and install bathrooms and kitchen) also the garden could do with a weed (which we did do this) the garden and the front of the property could do with jet washing was slippy when wet. There is as a mop bucket but no mop. The front room did smell of dirty dogs, I think it was the rug (we have dogs and mine do not smell)
the property was very well equipped and spacious, the bed was very comfortable and in a lovely location very handy for everything and some great walks. we had the most lovely week a x will definitely come back and recommend it to our friends.

United KingdomWe initially didn't have hot water, but this was sorted out with a visit from the handyman. The heating is controlled elsewhere, although you can adjust the radiators. This isn't a big problem, but the morning when we left, the heating was turned right down from midnight and we had no hot water again in the morning.
There is lots of space so it's a relaxing stay. Beds were very comfortable with nice sheets and covers.

United KingdomThere was no house number supplied on confirmation to know which number Church Cottage we were staying in. There are 9 Church cottages with the same postcode and no external pictures to help locate it. The office number had no out of office option to enable a resolution and we had to rely on trying the right one ourselves - guess work. Could easily be resolved by supplying a house number.
Once in the property it was a very relaxing stay, but it took us 45 -60 minutes to get in and work out which was our cottage.

United Kingdom10am check out is a bit mean when there’s quite a lot of jobs that need doing by tenants (sorting rubbish, stripping beds etc)
It was spacious but still cosy and in a nice quiet location. It was well equipped for self catering but within a short stroll to three good eating establishments. very comfortable beds which is hugely important for a relaxing rewind.

United KingdomTV is very old the remote worked when it felt like it, DVD player did not work kept cutting out, there was toothpaste spit on base of mirror and the whb plug in bathroom when we arrived (yuk). Cobwebs in bedrooms. Toilet seat does not fit toilet! Garden furniture broken and piled up so unusable!
Location, size of property, Beadnell itself, cafe next door. Log burner, decent area outside to rear of property but garden furniture was piled up so could not use it. Overall it was good.

United KingdomIt was noisy, birds from the church graveyard and people from the pub/early morning café goers There were a few issues with some wear and tear on items that need addressing We had to hoover the sofa on arrival as had dog hair on, we are led to believe that each dog owner pays £25 (as we did) for specialist cleaning, clearly not the case
The cottage was large enough for us with good facilities We were in a central location with a café next door and two village pubs/hotels/restaurant The kitchen was large and well equipped for cooking meals/breakfast
