Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI loved it, think maybe a sign by the gate to help find it easier, our lift struggled to get it right.
Lovely spot on the outskirts of the town, Jacqueline is an exceptional host and can't do enough for you, so friendly and chatty. Would definitely stay again.

IrelandJackie was absolutely lovely. She was so friendly and it was really lovely chatting to her. The room that my mam and I stayed in was spotless and she made sure we were stocked up with water and orange juice. Her garden was also lovely to sit out in as the weather was nice. The place was a little confusing to find at first as the taxi driver never heard of it but it is only a 15 walk from the town. I would stay here again. Thank you Jackie

United KingdomVery convenient location, just a 15 minute stroll to Newry city centre. A spotlessly clean room and modern bathroom, and comfortable beds. Tea/Coffee with fresh milk and ample bottled water and orange juice with other "naughty" chocolate and jam tart treats were all very welcome. And a lovely Irish host welcome. A scrambled egg on toast breakfast was an unexpected treat also. Very good value for money. I would certainly return. Thank you Clanrye House B&B.

United KingdomAs it was April and quite chilly outside and my mother is elderly we did feel the cold in the room. We had to text ahead to ask for the heating to be put on before we got back. Same in the mornings as we were up very early every day and the heating did not come on until we asked. As a suggestion it might be more convenient for future guests to put the heating on a time so that it comes on in the mornings automatically especially when the temperature outside is cold. A couple of times I got back in the car to find that the security gates were locked and we were not given the code. The first time luckily Jackie turned up a few minutes after arrival. The second time we rang the buzzer and were allowed access. A suggestion would be to provide guests with the access code so that they don't feel uncomfortable. ringing the buzzer especially if they wish to return late at night. Lastly the postcode provided is incorrect and should be amended. We thought we had booked a property near Daisy Hill Hospital which was much more convenient to where our relatives were located. Instead it was actually on the busy Belfast Road and much farther away. For us it wasn't a problem as we had a car but without a car it may have been an issue.
Jackie was very accommodating and friendly as a host. She offered to make us breakfast daily but we generally went out to eat at a local coffeeshop however that was a personal choice. She provided in room tea/coffee making facilities and a small fridge just outside in the corridor. The house itself and our private bathroom were of a very high standard.

Room very clean and looks so new. In room we had coffees and sweets which was great because my husband is sweet tooth. When I was booking the room there was no option for room with double bed so i booked twin room. No problem for me, 2 nights i could sleep by myself. Bathroom also very clean and look new. There was plenty clean towels for us. Space for car. Nice garden to have a coffee outside. Better than busy hotels. Just the direction on booking.com is wrong and took us to number 26 instead of 24 but thats not a big problem. Definitely will back there if i will visit Newry again. Thank You very much.

IrelandActually, everything
There was a bit of confusion over breakfast, we booked and paid breakfast inclusive, but she said it continental breakfast not hot breakfast which in kind of started us on the wrong foot. We just let it go, although she did her best in a way.

When booking the room, Jaqueline has confirmed very quickly the reservation by email and was very helpful. The day we were arriving I sent her a whatsapp to confirm we were still coming and she answered very quickly. She was a wonderful host, we as a couple had booked a twin room because it was the last room left on the website but Jaqueline said the other guest who had the double room was a man on his own so she gave us the double room which was super nice of her! We had a chat with her when we arrived & the next morning, I love it, that is why I prefer B&Bs than hotels, when travelling, for the contact with the locals so it was enjoyable! The room was amazing, the bed super comfortable, there was a dressing room & make up mirror & a lovely bathroom. The shower was brilliant too. We did not watch much TV but for those who might be interested, there was the Sky cable as well. There was a lovely smell in the room (clean). We will definitely keep this address for a future trip - thank you so much Jaqueline !

United KingdomTo call Clanrye House a 'Bed & Breakfast' is very misleading. There is a kettle in your room, some cereal, croissants, jam tarts and orange juice. There is a toaster, but no bread, to which we bought our own (along with other supplies). It's more like an Air B'n'B, with a few complimentary extras. But no hot breakfast or even a fresh, daily prepared continental breakfast. At £95.00 per night, it was very expensive (and slightly disappointing). Upon arriving we both took a shower and the water was cold. We put it down to it being early evening and perhaps the hot water had run out. However, the following morning the water was FREEZING. We were on a time limit as we were both attending a wedding, but before leaving, my husband bumped into Jacqueline and informed her of the water issue. She said she would get it sorted. However, when we arrived home late that evening there still wasn't any hot water. Nor had our room been cleaned. I text Jacqueline who came down to see us. She told me that 'I hadn't asked for our room to be cleaned', to which I replied 'I didn't know I had too'! Seeing as no washing up facilities had been provided to clean up our breakfast plates, cups and cutlery, I would have thought our rooms would have been cleaned each day in order to remove these items at least. However, after this conversation, our room was cleaned each day. We then had hot water for the next two days, but on the fourth day when checking out, the water was cold again. We couldn't be bothered to report it this time, as we were now leaving Newry. There also appears to be an issue with the shower tray as it kept filling up and water nearly spilled out into the bathroom. We visit Newry regularly in order to see family, but sadly, we won't be returning to Clanrye House.
Jacqueline kindly picked us up from Newry bus station, which was a welcomed relief after a long day of travelling. The room was of good size and was spotlessly clean with a large bed, dressing area and en-suite, with a nice outdoor seating area. Location was in a quiet area, about a 15 minute walk from the city centre.
