How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There wasn't really anything I didn't like.
I liked the room having an on suite. It was a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfy which is a must for me with my disabilities. The only noise I heard was from the traffic as I was up in the loft. For the price I was very happy.

Just a minor thing, but it is probably difficult to keep carpets clean as possible, where there are continued guests coming and going in the hallways and stairs. Otherwise, it was acceptable and reasonable rates
It was clean, comfortable and quiet. My room was near toilet and bathroom.

There stairs were a bit steep for my arthritic knees, but I found a way to manage this.
It was peaceful. Clean bedroom. Clean sink. Adequate storage room for clothes and extra items

Great room, bed super comfy and warm, cozy environment and spacious area with TV. 5 min to a main street with supermarkets and cafes. I would stay here again!

My partner struggled to use the shared bathroom shower as it wouldn’t come on
It was 4 minutes away from my sisters house so it was really ideal for us to stay there

The busy main road was audible, particularly motobikes.
Room 4 at Clifton House is very spacious, with a view over the garden and free wifi. It was comfy and spotless with a great shower (wet room). The mini fridge was an unexpected bonus. Checking in and out was simple and quick. The location was very convenient for visiting family nearby.

There were no issues although it was difficult for the taxi driver to find the hotel initially.
How spacious the room was as well as the clean presentation throughout the hotel.

We did not see anybody that's why I ticked sad face for staff.

The major fault was the bed. Too small even for my 5' 8", very narrow, a child's bed. The mattress was thin, soft and a bit lumpy, the linen was low quality. [There was also no breakfast, and no shared lounge, but I knew this when I booked.]
Location was the reason for my choice, easy bus ride to Hove. The room was large for a single, but a bit austere. Not en suite, but large bathroom five yards away. No problem. The room was pleasantly warm Good view of the South Downs On busy main road but I could not hear the traffic at all.

Wasn't keen on " wet' shower room as kept forgetting and getting wet socks/ feet. Quite noisy from main road but not owners fault and I am a light sleeper ( ear plugs needed) 🤔
Met at property by owner and shown to room. Called owner back as TV not working on live TV. Explained that Ariel not working.

It's clean the staff are welcome but not easy to easy to get to see them I found it difficult to contacted with WiFi I text the staff to get help but didn't get any Help!
The location it's great but it's not easy to find the property.....There is a number on and over all As its the main Road it's noisy!

The weather. It was pouring when we arrived and retrieving the key from the box near the front door with the code provided to us was quite tricky in the dark.
I can't comment on staff as I didn't meet any, and we didn't have breakfast. Room was clean and a good size, and the bed was comfortable, which was all we required.

Shower is not very practical to use but still OK that's not a real downside. No person in charge on the premises the wall weekend we were there, if you have trouble or anything to ask it can be tricky
House is quite big. Good wall isolation, we never heard the others clients.
