The extra touches in the room were great eg Echo Dot, coffee machine biscuits, lots of thoughtful bits and pieces. Both hosts were lovely and provided lots of helpful information.

They've got everything right. It's a lovely place to stay. Great little seaside town with amazing history. I've spent a lot of time in hotels and B&Bs. Coastal Joy has been one of the nicest places I've stayed.

This is a gem, in a lovely little town which is a great stepping off point for the stunning Northumberland coast further North. It's not a B&B. It's a very high quality place to stay. You can get a great breakfast at the Maritime Museum, which is a 5 minute walk away. Gary has a dangerously detailed knowledge of all of the restaurants, food outlets and pubs in Newbiggin. You'll need to put 15 minutes aside with a notebook to absorb it all. Room was spotless, beautifully furnished, including blinds and curtains, with everything you could possibly need. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board, fan. You even have your own smart speaker. Loads of proper hangers in the wardrobe. There is a fridge in the room with bottles of water, milk and home made cakes. Free. On the second floor landing is a fridge full of choccy treats, drinks, and a microwave in case you need to heat up a pizza in the middle of the night. With an honesty box! You can drink coffee and tea till you get caffeine poisoning. Great coffee machine with plenty of pods. TV has excellent reception, DVD player and a library of DVDs on the first floor landing, plus lots of books. Bathroom spotless, with fluffy white towels and shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Shower works perfectly. In the bathroom cabinet are shower caps, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower caps, etc etc. I could hardly get my case shut! Right on the main street, 2 minutes from the beach and free car park, where you can park free for 72 hours. Lots of on street parking. I visited on August Bank Holiday Monday, and there were lots of spaces free day and night. Lovely little area at the back of the house with hot tub and sauna, which is a real sun trap. You can come and go through the front door between 7am and 11pm. If you fancy a night out in the Bigg Market till 3am, there's a key box to get in after hours. The hosts always seem to be lurking downstairs, very unobtrusively, and I felt very happy leaving valuables in the room.

Clean, comfortable and central Enough space for what we needed Hosts friendly and welcoming Some lovely thoughtful touches, coffee machine, sweets and fridge in room with cupcakes on arrival, fresh milk and complimentary toiletries etc if we'd need them (we didn't, although I did keep little notebook and pen 😊) Again, snacks and cold drinks etc with honesty box was lovely to have access to had we needed it Will definitely recommend and I'm sure we will stay again

We thought this place is a little gem, so nicely appointed and decorated. There was a coffee machine with ample supplies a fridge and us of a microwave. Really pleased and it exceeded our expectations especially for the price

Gary was very welcoming and provided an extensive description of all of the places to eat/drink in the vicinity, along with his personal recommendations. The room was very clean and quiet. In the room there was everything that you needed and the biscuits and sweets went down very well! The majority of the time there was free parking right outside the guesthouse.

Lovely comfortable room with everything you need. Excellent location close to the shops, restaurants and beach. Lovely to see the dolphins in the bay.
