Amazing location! Great all-round. My husband travelled with my daughter from South Africa, and it was perfect... affordable, clean and comfy! Wonderful to visit Edinburgh for the first time, a fantastic City, Thank You!

A little round/rectangular table in the room would have been a nice touch. While in the kitchen/lounge, the themusic was a bit loud. Remember, some are talking or watching movies, etc...

The location is right in the centre. The hostel was clean, as far as I could see. Stayed in a 6 dorm room. Everyone was quite respectful. Luggage storage is available for free. Just ask. The mood was great. Lots of mingling among people. Laundry room available, too.

The place is right in the centre of Edinburgh, so it is perfect to visit the city on foot. The beds are clean and comfortable. Moreover, toilets and showers are constantly cleaned and remain spotless all day long.

I just found it hard that I couldn't charge my devices inside the Pod, as you can just use the USB wires other than that you won't be able to use them.. except out of the pods, and that is uncomfortable for me.

I liked the staff there, also the place was clean.

I loved it all to be honest

This is a fabulously accessible hostel! I am deaf and have a neuro condition that makes some movement difficult. The Court staff could not have been more accommodating. When I checked in, they made sure I had a lower pod, I was near an accessible toilet and any problems to just come back to them. I was amazed at being offered a vibrating personal fire alarm, I have only had that once while travelling and it was a posh hotel. I cannot tell you the independence that something like that gives a deaf person. No need to sleep with hearing aids in! I also booked the beer tasting in The Lost Cellar below the hostel. What a bargain! It was £10 and we got 5 small beers, a great explanation of each one and some fabulous company and humour. The chap that ran my tasting was Padge (apologies if I lip read that wrong! ), and not only was he exceptionally knowledgeable about the beers, he absolutely put evryone at ease and had everyone chatting amongst themselves. He made sure I could see him to lipread at all times and checked in that I was ok and following along alright. I cannot say how much this trip boosted my confidence as a solo disabled traveler. the hostel is super clean, in perfect location and modern, while retaining so much of the buildings character and original use as a court and jail. I have already cancelled a booking elsewhere and will be staying here again this summer. What a great place and a huge well done to the team for inclusivity! 10/10 on everything!

Pillow wasn't very comfortable. Room was.set to 22 degrees so had to open the window!

In the centre of the old town. Hostel was quiet although large. Bathrooms were clean and I never had to queue. Cute kitchen and cafe. Rooms had enough space with a locker and hook for each person. Once in the pod you could have a quiet and comfortable space. The pod had two lights, curtain, shelf and hook. Also USB sockets.

No windows in the bathroom, corridors and room, you can't see outside and you can feel a little bit disconnected of the weather and a little claustrophobic. A strange smell was also in the room and I think it was moist or chemicals and I felt my lungs not healthy after 10 days here.

The privacy of the pods are really nice. The bathroom are perfect, the kitchen also big. I love the breakfast with waffles and the hostel was really central.

We had an amazing stay the location was absolutely perfect, near to lots of attractions, shops and restaurants. The hostel was incredibly clean and modern and the staff attentive and friendly. The court has a strong sense of community; we would definitely stay again.

The hostel is situated in a perfect location, being right in the centre of the city on the royal mile. I typically am not the type of person who stays in hostels as I like to have the privacy of a bedroom, but that was not a problem with this hostel. The (very comfortable) pods offer you the best of both worlds: the sociability of a hostel dorm and the privacy of a bedroom. The hostel is very secure with pincode operated doors and lockers. The common room has all the facilities you could need with a good kitchen, beer for sale on draught and a well stocked fridge. The social environment is very welcoming there too and all the staff are lovely! I did not avail of the breakfast but the waffles cooked in the morning looked fantastic too.

Mixed dorms. There should be an option to have female/male only dorms. I got stuck with three guys in the dorm that made a snoring competition during the night.

For a hostel, it's remarkably clean. The kitchen and common area are pretty nice and lively, and they offer free walking tours and whisky tastings in their own bar. There's a locker for your things that you lock with a personal code, and it's pretty easy to climb into the pods. Bathrooms and showers are big and clean.

If you have heavy luggage would take a bit of walk as you need to go around a block rather than many stairs to get to the hostel. But it’s worth it

Just amazing much better than expected. Economical choice at the same time getting your own privacy in individual pod with curtains and comfortable bed and linen, very clean hostel and bathrooms and toilets are regularly cleaned. Luggage locker provided (no padlock required), 2x shoe spaces, assigned cloth hook on the wall and in individual pod, USB socket (no power point in pod due to regulation). Kitchen is well equipped. Reception friendly. Close to many restaurants and shops. Hostel also offer free city walk which was fun!

pictures on the website do not match the reality, completely different rooms. unbearable ventilation noise all the time including during the night and freezing cold room without heating when it's 5C outside at night, unrefundable towel rent £3, you can buy a new one at poundland for £4

perfect location, clean and comfy beds, free lockers before and after check in, nice showers with good preassure, spacious kitchen. take advantage of their free city tours and fun events in the evenings in the lobby.
