How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Other guests in the hotel were loud during the night as well as early morning. In their room but also in the corridors! No consideration for others. We requested a quiet room but it was not. Second time we are staying here and last time no issue with noisy / drunk guests. Breakfast is average quality.
Location, easy access to Colchester, good value for money, staff friemdly

No TV to watch the football.
The bar area was nice. The receptionist was friendly and the food was good too.

Think the lack of room makeup except on request was unusual. Change of towels wasn’t an issue except the washbasin tap was so fierce it came over the top of the sink and towels were used to mop up the flood… Lighting very low especially when I realised that one bulb near the kettle area wasn’t working. Little things easy to fix!
Well presented and good location - despite being near busy roads it wasn’t noticeable in the room. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Breakfast was till 10am, but already before 9am, most items were gone. No mugs, plates, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, pastries or beans when we came down. Bad coffee, too. Only 1 ( non efficient) staff to replenish items and clean tables. So it took a bit of waiting before we could eat ( limited items). Poor! But with 7.4 stars, I did not expect much. 45 min waiting time for a cab as not many want to drive there due to the location: 12 min drive from the centre.
Easy parking on site, just put reg in Bed comfy

Breakfast had a limited choice. No veggies, ham or cheese.
Lovely bar and lounge to have a drink and relax. Dinner food was excellent. Excellent staff, welcoming and friendly.

Bar and breakfast area very sticky! Needs a good clean with disinfectant. Breakfast ok but sausages and bacon only just about cooked. Gordon Ramsay would have given the chef a roasting!9

Really for £80 and location can’t moan, need more staff as poor girl rushed off her feet

Nothing, it was fine for a 3*rated hotel. After 9am and 9pm. no cooked food. So get order in early. Self help cooked breakfast, not cooked to order but ample choice.
20Apr 24.Location is isloated. With a car no problem. Good safe parking. Once hotel is found the staff and hotel is good accomodation. Nice clean room with SUPER KING bed. Easy book in. Register your car.

There wasn’t one think I didn’t like about the hotel
Hotel was very nice , clean and friendly staff . After reading all the negative comments I was expecting very little however it was really amazing including food . I even had my car charged at the premises and will go there again .

I didn’t see many staff during my stay , sadly the bed was two singles pushed together to make a double and the breakfast was not cooked well , would say £69 was a little pricey because of this as I would expect a good breakfast and a double bed not two pushed together .

Food and plates at breakfast weren't refilled fast enough, making it impossible to eat without trying to find someone at the front desk, which was often left unattended. After the first day, the extractor fan in my bathroom stopped working so I spoke to the front desk who promised to get it fixed. It did not and for the remaining 2 days my room was hot and filled with condensation.
Very modern room and bathroom with a powerful shower. Self check-in and out was quick and convenient, parking was also very easy and free. Good breakfast. Unusual location but still got to town in 15 mins.

More choice for breakfast and more bread!
By the time I got down for breakfast there was no bread or fruit juice left, however hot buffet was as lovely, and plenty of tea, coffee

A hot breakfast was only available between 7am and 9 am? - on a sunday morning this is quite a restricted service. People who have travelled a distance to attend functions etc or for work purposes and look forward to a bit of a sunday lie - in before going down to breakfast will be very disappointed i suggest? It's a poor situation, and personally, having stayed in many many hotels down the years, it is the first time i EVER knew breakfast to be over before 10am on a sunday.
Nice location and large room. Facilities were ok.
