The lighting options in the room were either Blackpool illuminations or a dim light from the desk lamp. Bit of a shock turning the bed light on for all the bed lights to turn on and the mirror light.

Lovely hotel in well kept grounds, lots of parking and large rooms. Reception staff very friendly at a late hour when checking in. Didn't make it to breakfast, but the price for food and the room was very competitive!

Had to wait to be checked in as machine didn't provide us with key and the manager who was there was serving at bar looked over 3 times and didn't even acknowledge us for 5 mins, when we went yo breakfast there was no one there so didn't know if we took a seat or wait even to geo and get food, the food wasn't great bacon was sitting there for hours and was dry and sausage where just warm and only get sausage bacon egg and beans for a cooked breakfast

Dark depressing dated decor. Small double bed when bedside tables were fixed too far away, meant for a king Bed not firm enough and gave me backache Room smelt of smoke Poor disabled parking. Not near entrance and spaces no larger than standard

The place does need a bit of TLC. For eg some wallpaper was peeling off in the room and the tables in the eating area are looking past their best. But this is minor stuff really. Breakfast options are a bit limited, especially if you are vegan.

The room was clean and comfortable and despite being fairly close to major roads was very quiet. The food in the evening, whilst not being adventurous, was well cooked and good value. The staff were very good and welcoming. Location is good for both visiting Colchester (around 25 minutes drive to centre) and also good for easy access to the major road network.

Other guests in the hotel were loud during the night as well as early morning. In their room but also in the corridors! No consideration for others. We requested a quiet room but it was not. Second time we are staying here and last time no issue with noisy / drunk guests. Breakfast is average quality.

Think the lack of room makeup except on request was unusual. Change of towels wasn’t an issue except the washbasin tap was so fierce it came over the top of the sink and towels were used to mop up the flood… Lighting very low especially when I realised that one bulb near the kettle area wasn’t working. Little things easy to fix!

Well presented and good location - despite being near busy roads it wasn’t noticeable in the room. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Breakfast was till 10am, but already before 9am, most items were gone. No mugs, plates, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, pastries or beans when we came down. Bad coffee, too. Only 1 ( non efficient) staff to replenish items and clean tables. So it took a bit of waiting before we could eat ( limited items). Poor! But with 7.4 stars, I did not expect much. 45 min waiting time for a cab as not many want to drive there due to the location: 12 min drive from the centre.

Nothing, it was fine for a 3*rated hotel. After 9am and 9pm. no cooked food. So get order in early. Self help cooked breakfast, not cooked to order but ample choice.

20Apr 24.Location is isloated. With a car no problem. Good safe parking. Once hotel is found the staff and hotel is good accomodation. Nice clean room with SUPER KING bed. Easy book in. Register your car.

Hotel was very nice , clean and friendly staff . After reading all the negative comments I was expecting very little however it was really amazing including food . I even had my car charged at the premises and will go there again .
