Worn label on toiletries in bathroom meant I did not know if it was shampoo or soap.

Room service at night was awful. Waited nearly two hours for food. Then, when it arrived differently, not two rosette standards. Breakfast was a mess, came down at 9 am, and barely any breakfast left. They were not prepared.

The hotel is in a great location. Our room was lovely. Like most hotels, it does need a little touch-up here and there.

Breakfast busy but that wasn’t the hotels fault as hotel was full to capacity and everyone came down for breakfast at the same time. Pillows not comfortable.

Location. Also hotel was quirky. Liked the style of it.

Not so keen on the artificial plants when natural ones could have been used instead. The breakfast was a bit underwhelming. The parking was an extra charge we could have done without.

It's a beautiful hotel, in a really handy location. Our room (the Wensum) was massive! We were overjoyed with the size of the suite with it's massive bathroom, double sink, big powerful shower, robes and slippers. We LOVED the roll top bath. The decor was high standard and it was spotless. There was a little fridge and the big bed was very comfy. We couldn't fault the room. We enjoyed a Sunday roast in the restaurant and it was very delicious 😋 the breakfast was fine but we were disappointed that we weren't told that we could order from the menu, which other diners all seemed to do. Whilst the buffet was good, the food wasn't very hot. We had an issue with our toilet which was fixed remarkably quickly. There's lots of parking, but we did think that being charged £8 per day on top of nearly £200 per night was a bit much. I'd happily stay again and would love to visit over Christmas - I looked at their Christmas brochure and it looks very enticing 😊 PS Norwich is a brilliant city - very underrated.

The drains were slightly blocked in the bath and sink. The water would fill too quickly and take a long time to drain away.

The Hotel is in an excellent central location to easily access the city’s Cathedral and other wonderful historic buildings. The hotel itself has a long and interesting history and that makes it more special.

We arrived early and left luggage at reception and asked if we could have a room in the old part of the hotel which she replied she would arrange, after returning back around 4pm the staff was different and not very helpful saying she knew nothing and she had now given all the old rooms to other guests, we was put in the newer part of the hotel above the kitchen and extractor fans not very nice , won’t be rushing back

If you have mobility problems (which I temporarily did) there are several steps down or up to the lifts, then several steps down to the corridors, then more stairs to the breakfast/dinner restaurant 13 in total. All understandable given the age of the hotel. Hotel parking attracts a fee.

The full English Breakfast had delicious variety. Maids Head, reputedly England's oldest hotel is situated in Tombland in the centre of historic old Norwich. Kett's rebellion ended up with negotiations in the half timbered 1500s house, (owned by Augustus Steward) kitty corner to the hotel. A 2nd hand bookshop, optician and pubs are nearby. Staff were always helpful. The hotel had complementary half hour rides in old Bentleys around town. My room had a view over charming rooftops. A variety of dinner choices were delicious. The bed was comfortable. The room had interesting decor & charging USB ports on lamps. Plenty of storage space. The shower was hot. There are numerous nooks & seating to read or enjoy a drink. The cathedral is just around the corner. It has a good cafe upstairs. A concert was held while I was there.

Only slight thing was other people did not know how to close doors quietly, they had to slam them shut either late at night or early morning
