Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAs it's an old character cottage just be aware the floors are uneven and the steps a little higher than modern houses, thats what gives it such character but it may not suit those with mobility issues.
Beautiful terraced cottage in the centre of Witney, clean, cosy and comfortable with luxurious bath towels! Easy walking distance into town, free on-street parking outside and the Cotswolds on your doorstep, what's not to love?! Thank you Archie, I'm sure we will be staying again.

United KingdomThe stairs were a surprise, they are pretty steep and no hand rail. And there's 2 flights of them.. The sofas are a little on the low side, but this could just be personal preference? we will still book again..
Really nice little house The beds were very comfortable and both beds a good size. The location was perfect especially with pup he loved it! The bottle of milk was really handy & cute. It's very clean and nice smells about it. Really handy to have bath & shower option. Witney Town has got to be the most dog friendly place there is! There a few shops that aren't dog friendly, but most of the shops, tea rooms and pubs allowed pup in.

The cottage was superb, Archie the owner was a star. We were up to see our new granddaughter, and he left a bottle of bubbly for us. The location is brilliant, on the church green, and so convenient for the town. Parking is great, and free. Would highly recommend, and will certainly be staying here again.

United KingdomWith all the positives, it feels a little mean to point out any negatives but to give a balanced view and to help with some (where possible) constructive criticism, I'd like to mention a few things... The biggest problem was parking. There are lots of free parking outside the property and around the town but most have either a 2hr or 4hr restriction, which is a problem when parking up for the evening. You end up spying out of the window, waiting for a space immediately outside which is unrestricted but twice, I ran out to move my car only to be beaten to the space by someone else. Archie did suggest using the car park across the road owned by the pub but I didn't feel comfortable approaching someone in the pub and having to explain why I wanted to park in their car park. If there is an agreed arrangement with the pub, it would be great if there where little printed slips in the cottage you could put in your windscreen. Whilst the fixtures and fittings all appeared new, the toilet seat in both bathrooms needs reseating and straightening and the downstairs basin tap needs tightening. The left hand bulb in the ensuite above the basin needs replacing, either doesn't come on or keeps flashing. The otherwise well stocked kitchen, could do with extra baking trays, perhaps a pizza tray and a bottle opener (with an easy to use corkscrew with 2 leavers either side). Noticed neither TV had an aerial, fine for streaming services but would be nice to watch normal TV too.
Host was very friendly and helpful, even advising the property was ready before our check-in time if needed. Key collection simple from lockbox outside front door (code, address, etc confirmed by Archie). On entering the cottage, we were wowed by every room we walked into, it had the perfect combination of modern (and new!) fixtures and fittings yet maintained the beauty of the natural stone and exposed wooden beams. With the walls being so thick, any external noise was minimal. We loved the cosy lounge, spacious bedrooms and the well equipped kitchen. We were very impressed by the TVs in the property, so often you have to make do with a fairly small TV when staying away but in the lounge, the TV was about 55" and upstairs in the 2nd floor bedroom, the TV was about 85"!! WiFi is strong and fast. The cottage is just a short walk from Witney town centre, which has a plethora of eateries and is a very pleasant place to walk around and browse the many shops that are there.

United KingdomThere was very little washing up liquid left to use and no dishwasher tabs however the owner brought us a couple of pods the next day. It was very apparent that the oven had not been cleaned following the last guests. We would have appreciated a welcome book with information about the television and the recycling disposal of our rubbish and the recycling of the same. The micro wave was functional and in good order but not big enough to use with the dinner plates provided. A small thing but we couldn't heat up a meal using the plates.
The cottage was comfortable, well appointed and in the main very clean. . The cottage is conveniently located to all the main places to visit and see. The kitchen was functional with all appliances in good order and easy to use. We loved it! The furnishings and fitments have been well maintained to a very high standard.

United KingdomWe had an amazing stay in this lovely property. The house was so clean and comfortable, looking out over the green with a lovely pub opposite. Witney has all the amenities within walking distance including supermarkets, coffee shops, etc. There is even a lovely salon a few doors down which offers a relaxing massage. All communication with the owner was excellent and he was very responsive when we had a question about the heating. We will definitely be back!
