Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere wasn't anything we didn't like, in fact, planning a second visit
I loved the cottage, it was welcoming and comfortable; I particularly liked that it had off road car parking for one car which was so much easier. I also loved the ensuite and corner bath and having a second bathroom made things really easy. There was so much we liked

United KingdomA simply lovely cottage. Spacious, comfortable and with everything needed for a perfect stay. Really appreciated the Christmassy touches, which made it even more beautiful. This was our second stay here, and it was perfect for both summer and winter - cool in the summer, snug and cosy in winter. Near to lots of interesting places to visit. We had a lovely time! Great communication with hosts Dawn & Steve - thank you so much!

AustraliaNothing!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The owners have thought about everything a guest could possibly require in a holiday cottage, plus more. Incredibly comfortable and a home from home in a lovely village! As it was December the Christmas decorations, wine and mince pies were very much appreciated. The hosts were very generous concerning arrival and departure times and considerate of our travel itinerary. We are very much looking forward to returning to the Cotswold Thatched Cottage!

United KingdomThe house was exceptionally clean and located within a few minutes' walk of all local amenities, including a fantastic pub that served great food. The designated car parking space behind the home was extremely helpful. The fact each room had independent heating made our stay both comfortable and environmentally friendly. The location near several points of interest, including Stratford upon Avon for Shakespeares house, Chipping Campden and Broadway for the steam railway, made it quick and easy to explore the area. A lot of thought has gone into making the house a home away from home. We will definitely return.

United KingdomThere are no dislikes - just a suggestion. …….maybe a few extra mugs would be useful so the dishwasher can be filled before being used?
The communication with the owner was very helpful and timely. and instructions were clear. The cottage was exceptionally well presented with attention to detail, and for us it had a 5* rating for cleanliness. It is a perfect stay for 4 people. It is well placed to visit most areas of the Cotswolds, and has a very good pub to eat at within walking distance in the village.

United KingdomNothing It was Perfect
The property was a lovely thatched cottage, immaculately clean with everything you could need. Two bathrooms was a bonus with two teenage girls. It’s was close to all the things we wanted to do, Cotswold Water Park, Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle and Stratford Butterfly farm. We also visited a couple of National Trust properties. We ate alfresco every night using the outdoor facilities as we were lucky to have glorious weather for the whole week. The two pubs are within a 5 min walk and are both very welcoming and the mini supermarket is a 30 second walk and very handy for all our evening meals

United KingdomLeaving!!
Absolutely stunning thatched cottage, whilst having the charming outside character, is beautifully finished inside with a mix of both contemporary and traditional. The lovely village itself is ideally situated for visiting the surrounding Cotswolds villages and towns, my personal favourites are Castle Coombe, Lower Slaughter and Snowshill. The Kings Arms has a lovely beer garden and great food. We had the pleasure of meeting Dawn and Steve, such a lovely couple and are the perfect hosts/custodians for this perfect home. Felt privileged to stay in this beautifully presented cottage with all your needs catered for. Look forward to returning! Carolyn & Dave

United KingdomThe door locks are a bit fiddly. We had two cars and one had to be parked on the main road. One bedroom is on the side of the main road and can be a little noisy. These are minor issues. Overall, the property is excellent.
The location was excellent to explore the Cotswolds. A couple of great pubs within walking distance. The village was lovely. The property was very clean. It had lots of character but had all the modern comforts as well. Hosts were very responsive
