Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe mattress was a bit concave and there were loud lorries and motorbikes speeding past all hours of the night. I had a disturbed sleep. The road was literally parallel and feet away from the building. The breakfast was mediocre. I’ve had so much better. The quality of the vegetarian sausages could have been better. They were greasy.
very pretty, spacious and clean.

United KingdomThe breakfast in the adjoining Clubhouse was very disappointing, with thick ham being substituted for bacon, which was unacceptable. The room was right by the road and was very noisy. And at over £150 a night, it was very poor value for what was on offer. I won't be staying there again and won't be recommending it to others.
The room was comfortable and clean, as was the adjoining bathroom.

United KingdomThe position of the lodge building is literally right up alongside the main road. We stayed during a very hot July and so needed to have the windows open throughout. (A fan was provided but the room didn't have air conditioning so we did need the windows open.) We found the road noise disruptive to sleep and also to just being in the room. We did close the windows early one morning but we found the road noise was still obvious (albeit less so with earplugs). Its worth noting the clubhouse closed at 6:00pm during our stay, so there wasn't really anywhere to go to spend time/have a drink in the evening. Midhurst town was probably around 20-30 min walk across the Cowdray park, which was a nice walk, but not something you really want to do when you've already walked 15 or so miles during the day! The Polo Suite had basic tea and coffee facilities, but given the clubhouse closes so early, I think these in-room facilities need to be improved, i.e. a nice coffee machine, a fridge with fresh milk and some plates to have a snack on in the evening etc. The cooked breakfast element was very good, but the other bits to breakfast (i.e. cereals, juices) were quite basic. We don't remember seeing any fruit or pastries. The room was clean, tidy and tastefully decorated, however was starting to look a bit tired in places.
We stayed in the polo suite of The Cowdray Lodge. This comprised of a bedroom, en suite bathroom and seperate lounge, all of which were good size and were clean. We liked the view over the polo pitches and Cowdray ruins. The cooked breakfast element of the breakfast offer was very good.

United KingdomThe key box facility didn’t work then the key we was given from bar staff didn’t work eventually all was resolved lucky there was a member of staff on hand otherwise we would have been a bit stuck !! The room was not the best the carpet was very stained and the bed was very uncomfortable felt broken also silly things like a complimentary biscuit for one when there is two staying and noisy knocking pipes! This is a different room to what we normally have so was disappointed!
Breakfast is good although as we have been visiting for several years it obviously has changed ie location of breakfast was busier than usual due to golfing group’s normally on previous the hotel side is separated in another room also less choice of breakfast than before.

United KingdomThe number given to us for access to our lodge was incorrect, and we had to find someone to let us in, eventually. The room was very comfortable and very clean, but after the recent heatwave, and a very warm evening, we thought that the duvets provided were winter ones, and too hot to use. We slept on top of the bed, and when it got a little cool in the early morning, we had no option but to go under the duvet which was not at all pleasant. Surely a sheet could have been provided instead of the winter duvet. Also, in the bathroom there were no curtains to be able to use the shower, which was a little disappointing to say the least.

United Kingdomlong walk to get any food, local pub stopped serving at 8, like most and petrol station the same. went to breakfast, lovely facilities, but sat for 30mins trying to get attention (think they had all just turned up and not interested - as if they hadn’t started yet) took nearly an hour to get through breakfast (which was fantastic). skip breakfast if you want an early start or fast exit. (once staff engaged - all fine, just took forever to get going)

United KingdomOne could hear plenty of plumbing noises from the surrounding rooms.
NIce comfortable room with plenty of nice touches, and very clean and nicely presented. Located outside of Midhurst so one needs to drive to enjoy a dinner in town. A full English breakfast (but no continental breakfast available) is in the golf club restaurant.

United KingdomThe main problem is that the bedroom is extremely noisy; it is on the main road between Petworth and Midhurst and we were woken at around 5 am with the constant traffic.
It was like a mini cottage but without a kitchen.

United KingdomThe shower water comes out onto the floor. The breakfast space feels very sterile.
We stayed in the Polo Suite. I was a bit worried as it's road side but actually we weren't disturbed at all. The bed was lovely and comfortable (my husband is 6 ft 4) and the lounge looked lovely but we didn't use it. A great space for a family of four if we decided to bring the children back next time. Breakfast was lovely and the views over the polo field and to the ruins are stunning.
