On hot days the room got a bit hot. The supplied fan was handy.

    Nice traditional breakfast.

The floors are creaky... It takes real effort to design so many creaky corridors and floors. I would worry about being there in winter with single pane glass... It looks chilly.

Breakfast was good on day two. Day one, we ordered a cooked breakfast but 20 mins later we still had no dish... With an event to go to we had to cancel and bail... Most annoying and I spent the morning hungry. Day two, we went earlier and the breakfast order came in 5 mins.

The road outside is quite busy, so be just aware if your room is facing that way.

Room was comfortable and had been decorated recently so felt fresh. Breakfast was very good and location was great for us.

For a dog friendly pub it is on a busy main road and there was absolutely nowhere to walk the dog except round the back car park without driving. There is obviously a lot of land surrounding the pub and maybe that could be better utilised. Also room was very clean but a bit dark and dated.

Very accessible. Dog friendly and staff extremely helpful.

Didn’t have my first choice if meal from evening menu. Glass of wine corked. Didn’t wait to get a cup of coffee at breakfast as got fed up after 20 minutes. Needed an extra pair of hands for breakfast service and to get second pot of coffee ready before first one runs out. Maybe need to invest in self service coffee machine. Road noise.

Clean and comfortable room, modern bathroom with lovely large white towels. Lovely staff.

Staff at desk was unfriendly and uninformed about acceptable Photo ID. They would not accept a U.K. driving license as a valid proof of ID. They would only accept passports as a valid ID even if you were a U.K. citizen. Total nonsense! Luckily one of my friends had her British passport with her and so they would let us stay. Very unprofessional and unfriendly unhelpful at reception desk !! BUT the other staff for example at breakfast which by the way is super delicious and very generous, were extremely friendly!!! The inn is right next to the main road so with the window open it is quite noisy but as there is a lot of forest behind you also hear many nature sounds including the river. Would definitely come and stay again but only if my U.K. driving license is accepted as proof of ID😅

As expected, this property is on a very busy road. As the weather was very warm, it was necessary to have windows open at night, which was noisy . However, there was a fan in the room if you choose to close windows.

Good value for money. Location convenient for visiting Devon. Good choice of food and the quality was good too. Everyone was friendly and the service was good.

The black out blind on the skylight window didn't close all the way, due to the window handle, meaning there was a strip of light at the bottom. Probably not that much of an issue in the winter, but for early mornings not ideal. Also the room I had was at the top of the building at the end (actually very good as it was quiet) however, with the sloping ceilings, limited headroom in places and quite a small door to enter, not ideal for someone of 6ft 2! Felt like Alice in Wonderland when she grows too large! The bathroom in particular has minimal space due to the ceiling slope. Shorter people won't necessarily have as much of an issue however and the majority of the room is fine

Really amazing staff who were super friendly and helpful at breakfast, particularly advising on gluten free options. The shower was great with really powerful water pressure and the bed was huge and very comfortable. Location is great as close to main roads and was helpful for seeing friends in Buckfastleigh

Some of the staff weren't as friendly when comparing them in previous visits , the room was too hot could of done with Aircon and there was no consistency with the breakfasts as each day what the full English consisted of changed.

Emma was really bubbly and happy in her work, nothing is too much trouble for her it was lovely to meet her.

no ac. i know its not common in the uk but it was in the high 70s/ low 80s when we arrived and the room was easily 10 degrees hotter than the outside temperature even with the windows open (they only crack a few inches). it was stifling. i think they should at least put a fan in each room.

really cozy inn with excellent pub with full service restaurant attached. spacious, modern rooms. very nice staff. friendly atmosphere. the employees actually seem to like their jobs and each other.

Traffic noise from road is pretty constant. Although the location is actually very convenient if visiting Buckfast. Also, could do with footpaths to go for short walks while staying, especially to the charging station!

Lovely place, very clean, tasteful decorations. Had a meal there which was really good. Nice quiet tables, spread out well into alcoves and separate areas. Staff were helpful, friendly, and breakfast was also very good with lots of choices. Electric car charging station nearby.

The sloping roof in the room but it’s an old building. As it was so hot we had the windows open and because the inn is right by the main road a lot of road noise which did subside a lot overnight.

Everything was available for our needs, the staff were friendly and very helpful nothing to much trouble. Breakfast was good which set you up for the day and dinner was very nice.
