OK so this is picky… the curtains in the room weren’t great and could do with replacing and maybe tidy up the bins outside a bit… I did say it was picky! This really should not put you off.

Fabulous rustic location on Dartmoor for walking etc. Warm welcome and very clean room and bathroom. Evening meal was really excellent (I had a really good steak perfectly cooked over the open fire) with my wife having fresh fish and scallops, all beautifully cooked and the service was excellent. Everything is organic including the wines, everything good. It is rustic with a capital “R” not the Ritz which is what we expected and wanted. Breakfast was also very good with good choice etc. We would definitely go again. Thank you for a great stay with really tasty food.

The inn was set out as a resturant and had nowhere to just sit comfortably and have a drink and chill out. So as a guest staying on arrival or after your meal you had to spend the time up in your room where there was no tv and quite noisy from below.

Loved the location on Dartmoor and the scenery. The room was pretty with lovely views. The staff were very friendly.

For £100 and £120 I would have expected the rooms to be a little more spacious - the bathrooms are tiny and there is barely enough space to move around the bed. Of course the building is old and there is no scope to make the rooms bigger - but perhaps the prices need to reflect this.

The staff are excellent - friendly, professional and efficient. The food was great if a little expensive.

Nothing to dislike but....just bear in mind this is a (really good) restaurant with rooms, not a hotel. As such its great.

Food is really amazing, with quality steaks cooked on the ox grill right there in the fireplace. Good atmosphere in the restaurant. Breakfast great. Staff were great too. Room was fine. Location is really good for walks. Straight onto the moor.

No hot or cold water available when awaking in the morning. It did come on intermittently and I was lucky I got a shower but my husband not so lucky as the water cut out whilst he was in the shower. We realise that these things happen but as the problem is an ongoing one it should have been mentioned at time of booking in and not when I had to go down and ask why no water. At breakfast it was also mentioned by another couple. We would stay again as it didn’t ruin our stay but would ask about the water situation before booking.

No fault of staff but there was a water issue. No running water at times due to bore hole fault. Also light for inner hallway was not easily located so had to leave on all night and no interconnecting door. Food was perfect but wait time on breakfast was long. I guess the staff were also struggling without normal access to water too.

Our evening Meal was amazing, tasty & fresh produce, The Location is great and the Breakfast was amazing, My Husband is very fussy and the Chef came to our table to check on his allergies just in case there was a problem, Chef made another side for my Husband on a busy Saturday evening which was very nice of him!

A typical Dartmoor building set in an outstanding location. Their specialism is as an organic food restaurant, which was very busy with passing diners; a superb chose of steaks being cooked over an open fire within the restaurant area being in full view of the diners ensured all food was cooked for evening and lunch meals to perfection. Breakfast was equally superb setting us up ready for a day walking the tors surrounding the area.
