How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The TV was very limited on channels due to poor signal reception. The full English breakfast was nice but a bit small side but otherwise everything else was good
Rooms were clean and very comfortable. We found the staff very pleasant.

Rooms in general but particularly the bedrooms were decorated with thought and not just another boring hotel room All other areas of the hotel were lovely,clean and well thought out.Very quiet and relaxing. Breakfast great with large choice and adequate free parking.

Breakfast starts at 8am (which isn’t ideal for people heading to work/ business guests) however the staff were great and prepared a take away breakfast for me so it wasn’t an issue

Glass panelled door on bathroom didn't allow for complete privacy.
Loved the decor which had a very sumptuous feel. Deluxe double with large comfortable bed and good quality bedding. Very friendly helpful staff. Quiet, despite road outside, and good nights sleep.

It says there’s a bar there, but there’s no one working at the bar absolutely no sort of entertainment or anything. We didn’t even know if we could go and purchase drinks because it just looked like closed down bar
The rooms were absolutely lovely. The pets were amazing comfortable didn’t feel like a standard hotel room felt like a very luxurious bedroom.

Clean and comfortable as always, I've stayed several times now. I love everything about Derby Manor, parking, 10 minute walk to the beach, friendly in person check in, lovely breakfast. I'll be back

Nothing to dislike about this hotel really, only fault we could see was there was a stain on the carpet in the room we had.
Great little hotel, close to everything but far enough away to be nice and quiet. Beautifully decorated, we had an enormous comfy bed. Great breakfast with a good choice and teapots to make your tea in at breakfast! Staff were very friendly.

Carpet inside the room was stained. The coffee for breakfast downstairs was a filter coffee and it is awful, as too my taste. I wish they served a proper espresso there. The breakfast dishes although tasty, were rather small in size, no vegetables enough on the menu or buffet.
Interesting and tasteful decor. Convenient location. Nice surroundings, Safe. Parking. Close proximity to the beach. The place has its own story and it is very pleasant.

The hotel was lovely and clean and very welcoming, the room was comfortable and generous in size. The breakfast was very good and tasty with a good choice of food. The location of the hotel was also great and not too far to walk into the town.

Another confusing booking.com incident! we thought we had paid for 3 breakfasts but the hotel said we had only paid for 2 and so we had to pay £15 for our daughter. Booking .com did eventually re-imburse us.
