I stayed at the Dorset Arms to visit my daughter, who is studying in Newcastle. The location was very suitable for me as it is a short drive to my daughter's place. It is not in the centre of the city. Stan the owner operator was a great host who went out of his way to ensure that I had a great stay. The hotel is currently being renovated but this didn't spoil the stay. Stan's breakfast is better than I have experienced in some 4star hotels. Overall extremely enjoyable and I'll be staying there the next time I'm in Newcastle.

When you arrive at the hotel you will feel that you are at home or just a guest of Stan. Such hospitality is rare in Europe and not even in Britain. The atmosphere of home, museum and restaurant at the same time! I highly recommend it to everyone!

Stan was very welcoming and there were so many options for breakfast. We had cereal, a full English and actimel yogurts. The room was big and included complimentary shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, and even a toothbrush and toothpaste each. There were blinds as well as curtains to minimise light coming into the room in the morning. We had a lovely stay.

Only because I have to write a con - tv didn’t seem to work but we weren’t bothered by that as we were heading out anyway. Everything else exceeded expectations. I’m sure if we had brought it up he would’ve been right up to fix it but we just used the room for sleeping so never bothered with the tv.

The owner was incredible and we had a wonderful stay. We are used to hotels and Airbnb’s so were pleasantly surprised by the difference - from the cosy rooms to the beautiful garden with chickens, doves, and an apiary with bees to make honey for him! Partner said the cooked breakfast was delicious. There were no problems with us returning to our rooms late as we had our own key to enter the property, and the owner went above and beyond to help us in any way he could. I didn’t want to say, in case others come to expect this, but two other guests (that we knew!) happened to stay here too and joining us at our location that evening. There was a football match so no taxis to be had, so he drove all four of us himself!! Definitely would choose to stay here again above any sort of hotel or Airbnb. Ours was the “budget” room but more than you’d get in a hotel, with a comfy bed and huge bathroom. Despite the weather everywhere was warm and toasty.

Nothing! Everything was great.

We had a huge room and a really comfortable bed. The hotel has lovely unusual artifacts throughout, collected by Stan, the owner. The breakfasts were superb. The garden is a haven for birds, including morning visits from the wild green parakeets. I really enjoyed staying here and will make this my regular stopover when I visit my family.
