Comfortable stay in a beautiful house by the water

The kitchen had plenty of crockery but could have benefited from a few more useful kitchen utensils and a bit of reorganising. I felt I was looking in every cupboard every time I needed to find something. I have passed this on to the agents. The breakfast bar in the kitchen only has two stools so the dining room (which is very nice) needs to be used for more people. I do think that although the house sleeps 8 it is probably most comfortable for 5-6.

This is a beautiful sandstone villa on the promenade in Broughty Ferry, overlooking the water. The four bedrooms are all lovely, with the master being particularly pretty. Both full bathrooms are good, with the freestanding tub in the larger bathroom being a real luxury! The living room is very nice with comfortable seating for probably 6 max. The window seat gives an extra place to perch with a coffee, to watch people go by. Despite its proportions, the house was warm enough during our chillyish April stay. There is underfloor heating in the bathrooms which I imagine would be lovely in the winter. The location is good for walking into the village itself and along to the castle and sandy beach. We ate at the tapas restaurant Sol y Sombra which was brilliant (set menu so go along hungry!), Bombay Joes Indian which was good and Forgans which has a good vibe. The small Tesco and the M&S food meant we didn't have to go far for provisions. If you want a city break with a more coastal feel then this is a nice place to come, as Dundee is only a short train ride away (7 minutes!). You also have easy access to the beautiful Angus coast, as well as beaches and towns in Fife. The agents that manage the booking process and the house itself were very responsive and helpful.
