Downing College is an absolutely lovely place to stay! ... and by the way (if you read old reviews), the pillows were perfect. Don't miss having lunch at least once in the Dining Hall!

Was disappointed that due to conferences being held during our stay we didn't have the option to pay for breakfast, as I'd read somewhere that this would be taken in the College Hall, and it would have been nice to experience it. We still got to wander around the grounds though which we enjoyed. Won't mention the pillows as I see that's already been resolved 😉 (we stayed July/August but I've only just got around to reviewing).

Excellent accommodation in a fabulous setting - made our first trip to Cambridge all the more memorable. Lovely warm welcome from the Porters who were all very friendly and helpful. Free parking on site included. Nice selection of bars nearby and only a short walk to the main centre.

I booked a room for 1 adult and 1 child (17 years) but upon arrival we had been allocated a normal room with a standard double bed. This was disappointing as I specifically searched for 1 adult and 1 child. Booking.com should be more mindful of the accommodation it offers in response to specific search criteria.

An excellent location in the centre of Cambridge at the beautiful Downing College, just ten minutes walk from the main Cambridge attractions and the river. The Porters were particularly friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Free car parking was available for the entire duration of the stay, in the secure grounds of the College.

We enjoyed our stay. The location is good and there are pubs and restaurants in the area. It was pleasure to stay in a Cambridge college rather than in a hotel.

There was no lift for our heavy luggage (we were in transit to SA) but what would we expect in this beautiful old building!! It was so worth the lug to the second floor!

We loved the experience of staying is res rooms on the actual campus of Downing College. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with green lawns and lovely pathways, so special to wake up to in the morning!

The only thing that could be improved was the pillows - too hard and too big, as several other reviews have mentioned. Everything else was great!

Downing College is beautiful with lovely grounds to wander round but at the same time it’s very central to all the Cambridge attractions. Parking is on site and included, which is great. Room was very clean and great facilities including access to an impressive shared kitchen.

Room quiet and well appointed. Everything we needed including tea making facilities. Very good bathroom. No breakfast provided, but this was made clear when we booked and a there were several places offering good value very near by. Staff very helpful and friendly. Beautiful surroundings. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Although the accommodation is classified as a B & B, there was no breakfast available. Fortunately the college warns you about this so we brought our own and ate it in the very nice kitchen.

We were on the top floor of the modern block in a very comfortable, well equipped room with a kitchen at the end of the corridor. The grounds are beautiful, and unlike some other colleges, some of the lawns are open to visitors to walk and sit on. We got a friendly reception from the college porters in the gate lodge and parking was very convenient. Would definitely stay here again if we come outside term-time.

The bed wasn’t comfortable at all! The pillows were also hard, we both woke up aching and hurting all over. Definately needs looking at.

The property location was fantastic! In the middle of everything, close to independent shops, bars, restaurants and main shopping area.
