Personally, as we were in Whitby, I’d have loved kippers for breakfast !

Staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. I’d had a puncture and was able to leave luggage until car fixed. Friends were given an upgraded room do very impressed.

Pub area downstairs was quite generic and service was impersonal. However the breakfast was nicely prepared to order.

Beautiful location in the centre of town, near shops, abbey and seaside. The view from the room was glorious, and the room, beds and bathroom were all lovely.

The twin beds eventhough comfortable was alittle on the narrow side. There is abit of noise early in the morning as staff gets ready for breakfast, but that is to be expected staying in a pub.A widow cleaner to clean the outside of the windows would help make full use of the amazing views from the rooms and pub.

Ideal location with fantastic sea views. The area is central for wondering around Whitby. The room was clean, cosy and comfortable. The pub itself was a warm and cheerful place to chill after a day of exploring. We loved our stay and miss The Duke Of York and our lovely little room.

The only downside is the nearest parking is about a 5 minute walk but do not let this put you off at all.

Lovely place to stay and right on the harbour with lovely views. Handy for all the local attractions and the pub serves lovely food and drink. I found the staff to be really helpful and very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

There was nothing we didn't like to be honest. Only thing to bear in mind is that if you have mobility issues then you might want to check with the venue which room would be most suitable for you.

The room was spacious, amazing view, very comfortable bed, good sized bathroom with nice smellies. The room had good facilities including coffee machine, ironing board and iron, hairdryer etc. Staff were absolutely lovely. So welcoming and helpful at check in, breakfast and check out. Really enjoyed the Sunday night pub quiz. Fish and chip dinner was delicious, crispy batter and really good chips. Breakfast was tasty and staff were happy to keen to accommodate everyone's preferences. The room was clean and good value for money.

The sausages were very poor on the breakfast. And have stopped doing there Sunday dinners there new menu was basic and not the type of food I want to eat on a Sunday lunchtime. We were going to stay next year but the price has gone up to much .from £290.00 for 2 nights to £420 same dates. So unfortunately I won't be staying there .

The only slight thing was in our room (room number 4) you could hear a lot of the stools on the wooden floor above us being pushed back & forth which we think was possibly the bar area.. How ever it did stop once the bar had closed.. Orher than that very slight thing we couldn’t fault it..

The Duke of York is in the ideal location in Whitby. Staff were friendly & helpful, lovely and clean, rooms equipped so well.. Enjoyed our stay and already booked to come back next month. Highly recommend staying here.

There was nothing of any real significance to be unhappy about. We enjoyed our stay at the Duke of York Hotel, Whitby.

Staff were excellent; friendly and welcoming. Room clean and comfortable, with a great view over the harbour. Ensuite clean and a good size. Bed a little firmer than our own BUT comfortable never-the-less. Cooked breakfast was excellent and tasty. Rooms were above the bar area, therefore could hear some noise when customers were there, but not a problem and after hours was very quiet. Would very much consider a return if looking for hotel accommodation again in Whitby. Recommended.
