How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Breakfast was more than substantial! Full Scottish breakfast if you so wished with fruits/ cheese / yoghurt/cereals. My first time trying Haggis and Black pudding with some reservation. Fiona has made me a convert- so tasty, crisp outside, no hint of offal! Loved being able to make my own expresso on the nespresso machine. Brown paper bags and disposable cups for you to pack fruits / home baked cookies or coffee when on the go. What can I say? Only compliments for Bryan and Fiona.

Dupplin 152 is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Fiona and Brian went above and beyond. Amazing hosts We were given a packed breakfast one morning when we had to catch an early train.as well as being offered doggy bags with home baking every day.

Just a superb bed and breakfast. Ideally located for visiting Dundee, the Angus glens, or en-route Aberdeenshire, Tayside or Fife. Very nice guest sitting room with books, tourist information and tea/coffee. Host are just wonderful, providing homemade cookies and an excellent big breakfast spread. Coffee is great quality supplied by a local Dundee shop. Rooms are cosy, clean and newly renovated in tasteful style. Big bright bay windows overlooking Dundee Law provide a great place to sit and read. The place to stay in Dundee for a truly wonderful and friendly experience.

Lovely property in a quiet area. The hosts Brian and Fiona can’t do enough for you. Breakfast is absolutely fantastic. Worth every penny.

Staying at Dupplin was like a dream come true: a perfect, typical Scottish house, with the warmest hosts, up to the smallest detail taken care of, a welcome tea, and the most delicious breakfast including salmon! We could not have asked for more comfort!!!!

Our hosts were so accommodating from the time we arrived until we left. Bryan and Fiona’s home is located on a very quiet street. Their home was lovely and our rooms were very comfy. They only have 2 rooms which worked great for our friends and us. The breakfast Fiona prepared had a wide selection to choose from and was delicious, and Bryan served it to us.

nothing everything was great.
the hosts were really friends and welcoming, i had a long drive but they really looked after me when i arrived. 10/10 would recommend and stay again. parking is roadside but free, there was space when i arrived so just something to be aware of.

Nothing, but the car parking is on the street in front.
We liked everything about this place. We had a large room with a king bed, and shower was great. Fiona and Bryan were wonderful host and the breakfast was awesome.The location was very good too.

Only draw back - have to cab to town for restaurants but that was easy and not too painful. The warm that we felt in the house made that so minor
Our hosts Bryan and Fiona were the best! The made us feel so welcome. We could have stayed with them longer. The beds were amazingly comfortable and breakfast was made to order.

Fiomn and Brian were the perfect hosts with a lovely house with lots of empathy and information and the breakfast was fabulous! All in all couldn't have chosen a better place to stay.

It was a beautiful house in a great location, 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to town centre. Wonderful full Scottish breakfast too and welcoming hosts.

Breakfast was amazing, with a wide choice of buffet and cooked food, homemade jam, marmalade and cookies. Both Scottish breakfast and salmon/scrambled eggs were absolutely delicious. Fiona and Bryan are great hosts, I'd surely stay there if I were to go to Dundee again.
