How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There was a student ball with dozens of students . They weren’t noisy and the staff coped well with the influx of people wanting a drink but we were unaware that a function was going ahead .
Lovely grounds , great value for money and friendly staff .

The only draw back was checking in. Most people were there for the cricket and they only had two members of staff checking people in.
Lovely location. 30 minute walk to Edgbaston for the cricket. Lovely room, restaurant area & bar very nice. We had a problem with our lights in our room and everything was done to resolve this. We were moved to another room so we could shower in the light. Lovely friendly staff.

Limited parking. Personal preference but mattress on bed extremely hard.
Hotel staff were all friendly, helpful and extremely efficient. Rooms were spacious, clean and well stocked.

A little pricey, but worth it for location and convenience.

WiFi was a bit slow and patchy. Apart from that, there is absolutely nothing to complain about! I just wish I had had time to look around the area more and see some of the interesting things on site!
This is a bright, clean modern conference hotel essentially, on the University campus - but with some very interesting gardens and exhibitions on campus. Rooms are simple, clean, quiet, and comfortable, great meeting places / bar, and a large breakfast area that can cope with being a solo traveller in the midst of a major conference!. There is easy access and car parking on site. The staff were simply brilliant.

Phone signal poor but that is true of whole area.
Great location for hospital and university. Modern and clean. Bedroom was a good size. Dog friendly room. V nice staff. Nice green surroundings.

There’s no AC in the room and due to the weather at this time of year the room was really warm. There was a fan but this did very little

It was a pricey one night stay but had lots of amenities on site
Location was great as I was attending a conference on Birmingham university campus. It is very close to the uni train station. There was access to the gym, a bar and restaurant. I ate at the bar and everything was very good. The breakfast is good and rooms are comfortable.

Parking was a bit of a lottery due to events going on but we found a space in the nearby multi story and could still register for free.

Air conditioning kept turning on itself even when we turned it off - so the room was a bit cold

It was a little noisy in the evening due to a large party which took over most of the ground floor. That's to be expected though I suppose for a conference type hotel
The hotel was well maintained, and it felt new. The menus were good. There was some flexibility around menu options for those in my group with specific dietary needs.

A little noisy when events are hosted in the lounge/bar area

Parking. Very small car park with an overflow into the Uni multi story carpark next door. This wasn’t mentioned ahead of arrival and also there was a wedding at the hotel so all of the complimentary car parking was taken by wedding guests. We had to park on a higher floor and pay. This wasn’t an issue as such but would have been good to be prepared and also this might be an issue for mid week stays.
Very well laid out. Room was pristine and had everything we needed in it. Nice view over the gardens from the window.

Mobile phone reception is very poor or nonexistent in the rooms, and the wi-fi is not the best.
Very nice hotel with comfortable bar, nice restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, and close to University of Birmingham, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Birmingham Women's Hospital.

The breakfast quality and selection isn’t great and there is no fridge in the room to keep milk etc.
