Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe were the only couple there so Parking at the premises wasn't a problem but could be if all rooms occupied. There is a public car park in the village 5 mins walk away if required or parking on the road outside which could be hazardless if tractors etc came by
Our wonderful host made us most welcome into her home and having lived in the area all her life was a mine of information for places to walk or visit. Our room was clean, comfortable and more than adequate for us to have as our base. Breakfast had a very good selection and of such portions that only a beverage and a cake or similar was required during our days out. There was no pressure on us leaving the premises each day or returning.

United KingdomEdgcott Cottage is a small cottage/house, so there was no sitting area, separate from the dining area. So if it had been very wet during the day, there was limited space for relaxing indoors apart from in the bedrooms. This didnt matter to us, were out all day, but might have been an issue for a guests forced indoors due to bad weather. (The cottage sleeps five). However, part of its charms was its lovely old cottagy feel and beautiful front cottage garden. The stair case up to the bedrooms was very steep, so a warning note for guests not good on steep stairs might be useful. There was a stout handrail though.
Very extensive coooked breakfast, plus cereal, variety of fruit, home made bread toast, home made jam, everything we could have wanted. Lovely comfy beds, clean room with tea coffee facilities. Small TV in bedroom. Small very clean bathroom shared with the second bedroom occupant, with lovely big bath and good hot water, as well as a shower. Extremely friendly host lady, lent us a walking guide book and recommended local eatery for evening meal. She and her family are very long time residents in the village, so knew the area extremely well to give good advice on walking routes.

United KingdomLocation in the hear of Exmoor - is a fine attribute, again represented by superb hosts and the 4 nights spent courtesy of their hospitality is one of the most fulfilling in-country vacations my family have enjoyed in recent times. We walked and undertook running on the moor, enjoyed mountain biking, surfing and horse riding. A Denton Pentathlon and why not with all the fabulous and natural facilities at ones disposal. We even found the Stag Hound Hunt and felt very much part of the scene, observing this marvellous tradition, the good that this hunt actually do and enjoying the sights of fantastic Olympic standard thoroughbred horses, the fascinating hounds, fanfare and much more. We will return. The Denton’s - Bickley Kent. (Please publish these comments for public inspection)
Escott Cottage B@B is more or less an exclusive facility as the owners only permit 2 of their amazing rooms to be booked so any guest receives maximum attention, a warm welcome, extremely comfortable facilities, a breakfast made to order, a charming location and superb hosts that are experts on the area, what to do, where to go, what to find and much more. They even own a charming and fun dog called Tommy, a source of entertainment for all. Joan and her husband are pillars of the community, well regarded, farmers and farm engineers so guests feel attached to what is going on.

This is a lovely place to stay, just a short walk to village centre were you can enjoy 2 pubs/restaurants and a tea rooms, there is also a small shop, Jo the owner is a lovely lady and can't do enough to give you a pleasant stay, I had asked for veggie breakfast and she had even got veggie sausages to make the fried breakfast which was great.
