Did not like the narrow, steep stairs and being on the forth floor with two large suitcases that were almost too big for the stairwell. Did not like lack of kitchen facility. Did not like that our bedroom door automatically locke when we left, as I had to use the bathroom multiple times in the night as was afraid of being locked out each time.

Did like the bedroom--had more space than more expensive hotel and the location and the shared bathroom was OK

It is a modern hostel. Hair dryers are in the bathroom. You do not ask anyone for dryers. Perfect dryers are in already bathroom.

On the third floor there are not female bathrooms nor toilets, so you have to go up to the fourth floor or down to the second floor to have a shower or go to the toilet.

There was a hairdryer room and the bedrooms were quite spacious and the staff was very friendly. The lcoation is super central.

A young redehead member of the staff was super rude and impolite in more than one occasion. Cleanliness of the toilets was an issue too for me and my wife. In the masculine toilet there was shaving hair (the same one, by the way) in the sink during the 3 days of my stay. And the feminine toilet washing was blocked in some of the shower stalls.

Location is great. The two spanish men at the reception are very friendly and professional.

I would just like to recommend cleaning the shared bathroom in the private rooms more frequently in the day.

We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The room was very nice and the bathroom is shared with only one other room. The location is super central and the staff very nice. The only problem is that it is very noisy. Both because it overlooks a very busy street (especially the night) but also because since the hostel is located in a historic building, the floors are wooden and everything really creaks.

The window looked broken so it was very drafty and you could hear people yelling outside in the alley as if the window was open. The sink in the bathroom was tiny and placed halfway behind the shower cabin so it was hard to wash your face since you couldn't lean over it through the gap. Could have used some drain cleaner as it was also filling up pretty quickly. The toilet flushing handle was a bit finicky and would never work properly on the first try but this wasn't a major inconvenience.

Picked it mainly for the location and price. The staff was very welcoming, the room was very clean. Upon arrival we were allowed to store our bags before checking in. There was free wi-fi and our private room had a small TV and private bathroom. There was a radiator in the room we could set to our liking.

The building is a little tired looking and could do with being redecorated and smartened up.

We arrived in Edinburgh by train and the hostel was a 15 minute walk (uphill) from the station and a 5 minute walk (downhill) back to the station in the morning. It is also right in the centre of the city so lots to do and see on the doorstep. The staff we really friendly and gave great advice about where to eat.

Very small. The kitchen was badly equipped The kettle had to be filled in your room. Only 3 cups supplied. No sink or water to wash up so you had to do it in your room( toilet). Lots of stairs and very narrow areas

There was no bed lighting or curtains around the bed area for privacy. Apart from those things the staff were lovely and direct!

The showers were really nice in the morning!!! And there were lockers in the room for each bed which was amazing! It was very handy and comforting to see that I could store my things into a locker! And there were sockets for you to charge your phone which was perfect! Not a lot of beds in the room which made me feel more safe and comfortable being in the room! The staff were lovely and informed me where everything was or how to find areas of the hostel! Also getting a 15% discount to the cafe next door was a nice touch! Really enjoyed my breakfast!

Place was basic in its proposal, but we're talking about a hostel, so it's to be expected. A little noisy on Saturday night but that's the downside of being in a very lively and central area (also, complimentary ear plugs are at the entrance)

We stayed at the room with toilet. However the sink is dirty and rusty. Room size is good but beds & pillows not comfy. Very noisy other guests goes in & out as our room is right beside the entrance door

There was a guy snoring like a warthog in the bed next to mine. It must have broken some volume record! From night until morning, truly incredible! The next night I bought some earplugs, but he was gone!

We always had someone available to answer any questions we had. We felt very comfortable there, and the location couldn't be better!

There is no lamp light for each bunk bed, I think that should be better. Lockers are there in the room, but I think they have to mark the lockers with bed numbers. there is no elevator, if you have heavy luggage you have to take it up by self.

Ideal location, Staff is amazing, friendly, supportive and helpful. Value for money. Kitchen facility was available. free coffee and tea. Pool table, TV lounge, good place to meet people. Overall a good experience.

Great location! However, the hostel was hacked and didn’t seem to care to let us know! We paid twice for the room and neither Edinburgh Backpackers or Booking.com took responsibility for it.

Bathroom was small, only one small mirror in the apartment and mould in the cupboard. Also, on the 6th floor with no lift and mention of this when booking.

Large room with great kitchenette. Private bathroom and perfect location. Great price.
