Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt was difficult to obtain a 2nd set of keys for the apt which we needed - I think this should be available automatically. Also the couch in the lounge room was extremely uncomfortable and had some stains. Otherwise everything was excellent.
Stayed in the 2bdrm apartment on the ground floor which has everything you need and is close to the town, promenade and beach, it's a great apartment and position. Also has its own parking at the back of the accommodation which is really handy.

United KingdomThe apartment is on a fairly busy road and has lots of big, single glazed windows so we felt overlooked at times with people going by and could hear lots of passing noise. The beds were uncomfortable and the bathrooms both had issues with plumbing which we put up with for a couple of nights but would get annoying if staying longer. There was also an EV charger in the carpark but it wasn't clear if we could use it or not...
The location was good, 2 mins from the seafront and shops etc, and it was great to have parking in the centre of Aber. The kitchen was well equipped and it was lovely to have the little outside garden space to sit out.

United KingdomBooked ground floor room on website, and the confirmation email stated that I had booked Llys Yr Wylan (No 2) and its a ground floor apartment. However on arrival was given a different apartment (No 5) that was on the first floor. I had booked the ground floor as our daughter was going into hospital for an operation and possibly wouldn't be able to climb stairs when discharged. Thankfully she was able to, otherwise we would have had a major problem. If another person had arrived and they had accessibility issues and they had found themselves on the first floor I hate to think how they could have managed. When I challenged the allocation, we were offered a ground floor apartment for the second day, but by then it didn't matter so we stayed put. No issue with apartment itself just the mix up with the booking allocation.
Great location. Beautiful decor and very clean.

Australia(1) Our apartment directly faced the street at ground level so we had to draw the curtains in most of the rooms otherwise pedestrians could see directly in. (2) There was an internal hall light and external porch lights on all night which we had no control over and it prevented my partner from sleeping. (3) the compendium related to the hotel and not the apartment. This should be updated asap. (4) the combo washer dryer merely made the clothes hot, rather than dry
The apartment was light, spacious and extremely well appointed. It was a short walk to the promenade. The exterior of the building is architecturally pleasing and the small grounds relaxing. Parking was off street.

United KingdomJust lacked a little attention to detail… info pack was obviously standard for the nearby sister hotel rather than the self catering apartments. Still not sure if there was a safe anywhere. Just needs a bit of tlc here and there - ie lampshades need replacing on lamps.
Building was a fab period property in a great central location - with private parking at the rear, what a bonus in Aberystwyth. Really impressed with size of the apartment and there were some lovely features including double doors opening out onto a little garden with benches. Picked up/dropped off keys from nearby hotel and the receptionist was particularly helpful and friendly. I would have given full marks except I felt a couple of things were showing signs of wear and tear but I’d certainly stay again. Very close to town and beach but area was very quiet. We paid top dollar for a one night stay as it was graduation week - but all hotels etc were similar price tbf but just for a double room so, all in all, I felt the apartment was very good value. Thank you.

United KingdomNoise from the adjoining apartment. Location of the hot tub on the car park made it unuseable. No instructions on where to put out rubbish. Nor daily clean/refresh of bins by owners. The oven didn't work.
Very close to the beach, high street, restaurants. The rooms were large and the patio was very useful Superb building beautifully restored.

We were given a different apartment, not the one which I booked..was not sure why the change.. the apartment which was given to us was not far away from the hotel, where you need to pickup the Keys from..so it didn't matter much to me..This apartment was called Grosvenor. Close to the beach. Also you have a sea view if you peep out of the window..Free car parking near the beach side..

United KingdomSome more mugs and plates would be nice! There was a dishwasher but we usually had to wash up by hand because there was only just enough crockery. The furniture needs to be pulled out and cleaned behind more often.

United KingdomInstructions about where to park were vague, but once we found it the parking area was ample and convenient right behind the apartments. Some of the kitchen equipment had not been cleaned thoroughly by previous visitors, this should really be checked between each letting. Otherwise everything was beautifully clean and tastefully decorated. Thank you.
Beautifully presented, tastefully decorated and very clean. A few minutes walk from the beach and restaurants. An ideal location for our purpose which was to visit the area and attend Aber University open day. If our child opts to study here we will be making future bookings to stay again.

Self-catering so free to get up and do what you wanted. We hired the 2bed for 3 nights - it was generously sized with two double bedrooms, a large bathroom and en-suite - plenty of room for everyone.
