How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We were on the top level which was a beautiful room. Event though we had a steep ascent/ descent - it adds to the atmosphere of the 17th or 18th century building in which the hotel is situated
The location is superb. The breakfast was all anyone could expect, the plunger coffee exceeded expectations

Lovely centuries old house in a fabulous location close to the Abbey. It's very handy to thermal baths and attractions. There's an excellent range of cafes, tearooms and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Perfect little hotel for exploring the sights of Bath. Beautiful room, shower was awesome and breakfast was lovely. Highly recommend.

Breakfast was substantial if a little over cooked. Staff welcoming and very helpful. Despite being in centre of tourist Bath it is calm and quiet. Room was large, comfortable and elegant.

There is something that escapes from your hands and its the noise from people in the streets talking loud early morning perhaps because they returned from drinking or dancing however it can be listened from the room clearly nonetheless the rest about the stay in this place was really nice. The central location was great but with it meant a lot of loud drunks walking by at night.

We return to Eight as often as we can, a beautiful boutique hotel, where attention to detail is second to none. Friendly, helpful staff who accommodate your every request. Location - perfect! Bars, restaurants, landmarks all on your doorstep and parking is easy nearby. There is nothing to dislike and everything to love at Eight ❤️

Beautiful buildings, great location, massive room which is decorated really nice, large bathroom, amazing breakfast, fantastic staff and a great stay. We will certainly be returning here again in the future. Olaf and the other staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure you were happy. Also loved that you had 3 choices of coffee for breakfast.

Stairs were a bit of a problem as we were on the top floor. Bathroom door kept opening. Shower drain was right in the middle of the shower tray. So was in the way as we didn't like stepping on it.
Nice and Central to places we wanted to visit. Had everything we need in our room including fan, air con. Clean and tidy.

Needs more airflow. It was toasty. Larger fans and ability to open windows fully would make a world of difference.

Not the property’s fault at all but woken up a few times in the night by drunken people going home loudly through the lane outside.
Great location, lovely room, honesty bar was a lovely place to relax after an evening out. And a great breakfast too!!

Windows are not sound proof. We were on the second floor and the street noise was a little bothersome. Had to use earplugs to sleep.
Beautiful spacious room, large clean bathroom with great shower / water pressure. Staff was very accomodating and welcoming. Location was excellent.

The stairs are quite steep, and there's no lift. It adds to the character, but it's not ideal if you've got lots of big suitcases!
8 is a beautiful and immaculately presented boutique hotel with comfortable rooms, modern period-style facilities, lovely staff and a fabulous breakfast
