How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

On arrival we felt ignored for check in with a lot of staff looking at us, without acknowledgment. Once we were shown to our room, we were left to our own devices, we had a door which was a little tricky to open and we wasn’t told there was a residents access which was needed as we were staying for a wedding. We had to seek an answer the following morning. The pillows although fluffy, lacked substance, it would be lovely to be able to provide pillow options for different requirements. The breakfast service was inconsistent, the first morning was excellent and very attentive. The second morning we felt a little like an inconvenience, flippant in asking which hot drink we would like, we were never offered cold drink, water or juice, the previous morning we were provided with toast, but nothing on the second. We felt a high welcoming standard was offered on the first morning which fell flat on our second breakfast experience.
The room was beautiful and very well kept and clean.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and arranged dinner for eleven plus two children at very short notice. The food was served quickly and was excellent.

Very comfortable bed; very good shower with two shower heads; tea/coffee making facilities good, room caught morning sun; friendly desk staff; good dinner and excellent breakfast with very attentive service; attractive village walk in evening after dinner; enjoyed staying in a country pub instead of in a town , but Cirencester is within close proximity .

If anything at all, the pillows were a little uncomfortable and the rooms do get warm but they provide a fan which was very welcome
Lovely breakfast, beautiful location, great base to explore the Cotswolds and for a quick weekend trip. Staff very friendly and whole place was spotless, felt very cosy but modern.

We had an attic room which was quite small although comfortable and the two flights of stairs were steep.
Lovely quaint little hotel and bar ,very comfortable lounge for customers staying overnight.

Walk in shower bedroom on top floor, but plans are in place to build additional ground floor accommodation.

Narrow stairs up to the rooms and the difficult heating system. Either too hot or too cold but the staff worked at it.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Clean and updated old pub with some tasteful touches.

The room was a little on the small side but adequate for one or two nights.
The property was lovely in a great village in the heart of the Cotswold lakes. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and shown to our very comfortable room. The staff were fabulous, friendly and helpful to us and our dog. We ate there in the evening and the food was very good as was breakfast. We highly recommend it.

Great breakfast best we have had in any B&B
Really nice pub and area. The room was really lovely although the hallway carpets looked dirty, gave a bit of a bad first impression! Unfortunately this room was right at the top of the pub up narrow stair cases so not conducive for dogs. I did request the room with bath but also gave notice of my intention to bring our dogs, would have liked to be told the room was not really the right option! Was very difficult to get up and down with them and they are small! The room was also boiling hot. Would have stayed for the second night but it was too awkward with the dogs.

Although the radiator was very hot, room was not warm enough. We stayed in the most expensive room in the hotel but as it is on the top floor (attic) ceiling height was too short and it was cold. You need to watch your head at all times when walking in the room. Stairs were also very narrow it was very difficult to climb.
Breakfast and service was excellent. Room decoration and the bath tub was amazing. Bed was very comfortable.

Nothing. The main light was on a dimmer and I didn't realise. Perhaps there could have been a sign for people like me who are slow on the uptake! I'm really scraping the barrel to find something negative.
A friend and I stayed at the Eliot Arms for a long overdue catch up. The room was beautifully appointed, spacious, very clean and had everything I needed. Service was friendly and attentive. Breakfast was tasty - and plentiful! We will be back next year and quite possibly every year!
