How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Room location on the fifth floor of the Tyne block overlooking the river. Very good, and quiet location. Breakfast buffet very good.

Pillows too soft and children roaming free from parents at breakfast ( not supervision from parents) in buffet at breakfast, some using hands and putting things back. Not hygienic and put us off. Staff didn't say anything as busy.
Good location for what we needed, very clean, staff friendly.

Our neighbours. Screaming until about 11 and then again about 3am in the morning. About 4 of them in the room and all they did was argue.
The staff were incredible. We unfortunately had to leave a day early due to a family bereavement and the lady who checked us out made sure to refund me for the second night stay before we left. She is an incredible asset to the team there

If you don’t drive, it’s a muddy walk to the hotel from the metro centre

The sausage was a bit cold

Female receptionist/manager Friday morning !! on arrival after driving 2hrs we asked if there was any water for the dogs available after a long journey she went a brought an empty cereal bowl !!! After asking please can we have some water in it we was given a disgusted look and returned to put a tiny amount of water in she clearly couldn’t bothered if the hotel allows dogs to stay a water station should be available outside Same female receptionist/manager Saturday morning We had a birthday cake which we wanted bringing out at breakfast I asked if i could leave it with her until we were ready for it the look I got from her after gazing at the cake then back at me then back at the cake her response was ye !! I asked if she had a lighter so we could light the candles her response a very rude sharp tone “no I don’t smoke” I relayed this back to my husband who sat nearby who said he’d sort it outside as I pushed the cake towards her for her to take she asked if it needed be in a fridge I said no thank you as we’d be having it within the next 10 minutes again I received the most disgusting look she made no attempt to take the cake from me so I pulled the cake back towards me and told her not to bother as it was clearly too much effort for her and she obviously couldn’t be bothered !! this member of staff should not be front of house of a hotel she clearly doesn’t want to be there she came across as everything was too much hassle for her her tone of voice and the looks we received are definitely not what you want dealing with public as stated this was on 2 Separate occasions on 2 separate days with different members of our group so clearly not an isolated incident !!

A little too much noise bleeding through from other rooms. I couldn't connect to the wifi, but it wasn't really an issue as my stay was so short.
Easy to locate and ideally located for my purposes. Swift and easy check-in procedure, even though I arrived after 10pm. Excellent, large room with everything I needed for my stay and large windows looking onto the Tyne. Free parking. Fantastic breakfast included in the price. Spotlessly clean. Really good value for money.
