How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Only the room size.
The breakfast was excellent. The facilities in the room were very good and the person who looked it after was very kind and thoughtful. In general, we felt very warmly welcomed and very well looked after. The owner got out of his way to give us useful information for the town, the area and places to eat [which we always appreciate] and made sure we had a good time during our short visit in Oban.

Absolutely everything .. Thomas and Isabel have thought of everything and have added little individual touches that show a desire to raise their game .. e.g. small fridge in the room (every B&B should do this) and offer of fresh milk for in-room cofee/tea. I was in small single so bed against wall is ideal to ensure you don't roll off .. wooden pannelled surround is, therefore, elegant and beautiful. Extra hand rails on stairway .. excellent and thoughtful for those not so young and agile any more. And the i/d sign at the entrance .. carved wood .. epitomises the desire to excel. AND .. THE Eggs Benedict at brekkie .. wonderful.

I cannot think of anything we would change at Failtèe B&B. However, one should be aware that Oban is hilly away from the seafront, so the walk from Failte down to the harbour is fairly steep.
Fialtè B&B exceeded our expectations in every way. The hosts paid attention to detail, and every amenity was provided with the highest quality. Nothing was forgotten. Thomas was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. His suggestions as to restaurants, directions, etc., were 'spot on'. The location was convenient. Parking was available at the property. The room was very comfortable in every way. And breakfast was also very good. We enjoyed our stay and will try to stay at Failtè if we return to Oban.

Would have been nice to leave bags at B and B while we explored town before ferry left.
Very happy that we were able to stay and book in even though we arrived later than expected. Unfortunately could not have breakfast. Lovely room, very clean, brilliant shower and delicious chocolates.

Charmful B&B, our room was small but lovely decorated and well equipped. Very clean. Very good location, overlooking Oban and a few minutes walk away from the center. Good recommendations for restaurant too.

Everything was lovely.
Thomas was very friendly and helpful, even sending restaurant recommendations before we arrived. He greeted us from the car and showed us to our room as well as giving us tips for visiting Oban. The room was clean and comfortable; I loved the furnishings and clever use of space (the mini fridge was perfect). The breakfast was delicious with homemade bread and jams. I loved the chocolate by the bed in the cute glass jar, such a sweet touch!

We were given a warm welcome on our arrival. The host was very helpful. The room and ensuite was very clean, equipped with all you would expect to make your stay comfortable. The breakfast was great. We would recommend Failte as a good place to stay.
