We had a lovely short break here. The location was excellent, 2 minutes walk to shops and lake. The room was very clean, well laid out, very comfy, everything you needed. The host was very welcoming, the cakes and cookies left each afternoon were a lovely treat. The full english breakfast was fab.. Great parking and use of a lovely garden. We will stay here again.

It wouldn't be suitable for anyone staying who had limited mobility or disabilities.

Such a great find. The location was quiet ....just out of town, a short walk down the hill into Bowness with plenty of restaurants, pubs, shops etc..Host Nick couldn't have been more attentive.....daily fresh milk, homemade cakes & bottled water available each day on the first floor landing for all the guests to help themselves .Also a jar of little home baked shortbreads in our room to accompany the tea/ coffee making facilities. Breakfast was really tasty, fresh & locally sourced. Beautiful garden for guests to enjoy. We had a garden view room, on the top attic floor & it was very spacious.

Nothing. The walk up the hill from the town certainly kept us over 60’s fit 😂

We stayed in the Penthouse room which was a lovely open roof space with a seating area with an extra TV which was a nice touch. Nick & his staff were brilliant hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Fresh milk, bottled water & homemade cake was a real treat. Great location with a beautiful view.

The hill from the town!! But it would not stop us staying there again.

Breakfast excellent. Room and bathroom lovely, clean and tidy with plenty of storage for clothes etc. Gardens gorgeous. The whole place was beautifully decorated.

I felt that the room could have been more thoroughly cleaned, i.e. the skirting had dust on it, and the shower waste perhaps needed a little attention.

We were greeted with a lovely lady who turned out to be Nick's (The Proprietor) sister and immediately loved the ambience of the property. The quality of breakfast was superb and the choice was more than adequate. The locality to the main shops was perfect as it was far away enough not to be in the hustle and bustle of Bowness, but near enough to walk. Nicks garden is a rarity in Bowness in its size, so it was a real treat to sit and enjoy the serenity of it. Being May, the rhododendrons and azaleas are in full bloom, not only in Nicks garden, but all over Windermere. Bedroom could have been a bit bigger, but for the money it was very good value for money. Nick left homemade cakes each day, which were delicious, available communally with a welcome jar of home made biscuits in our room. I would certainly visit again, hopefully with a bit better weather, but that's England for you!

    Can't think of any failings.

Very convenient location for Bowness shops, pubs and restaurants. Friendly welcome in a beautiful setting. Some great touches to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Homemade biscuits and cake, refrigerated bottles of water, plenty of tea and coffee. Excellent breakfast. Lots of ideas and information for local amenities available in reception. Good bathroom facilities.

Difficult to find any faults at all other than if you struggle with inclines may find it difficult to walk to and from town

Its in a perfect spot, short walk to the centre of Bowness yet far enough away for piece and quiet. The house and gardens are exceptional and the breakfast first class. Staff very friendly and the attention to detail really good. Nice touches like the fridge on the landing with bottled water and fresh milk each day and on top of that home made cake each night.

Nothing about the hotel but only were it was situated as it was a very steep hill and not to good if disabled persons with walking difficulties and asmatics which I am.

The staff was very helpful and friendly We arrived late in the evening and the staff pointed us to a lovely pub to get some food .The room was clean and tidy, the bed was so comfortable the on-suiet bathroom was beautiful and quite spacious. We had breakfast and this was really nice and filling us up until evening. All in all I would definitely stay again and even recommend to friends. And it was quite central to town.

Room 5 was very comfortable and well equipped but was on the 2nd floor up 4 flights of stairs, this information would have been helpful in advance. The hotel is also located up a steep hill from the centre.

Good quality full English breakfast with choices of cereal etc.

My cousin who isn’t very fit struggled with the steep slope into the town, so anyone with mobility issues could find the short walk uphill to the property a problem . Otherwise it’s close to everything.

Nice little touches made this stay very nice. A fridge on the landing with little bottles of fresh milk and bottled water. The owner also left homemade ginger cake out to have with your cuppa, and on the 2nd day , carrot cake - both were delicious The bedroom was lovely as was the bathroom. Homemade shortbread in the room was also a nice touch Lovely fresh bedding and towels. Breakfast was also delicious with good quality items.

Such a lovely, friendly, clean place to stay and loved the homemade cakes that were left for us as a daily treat, location was a stone throw away the only down side to that was the hill you had to walk back up from the town but it had to be done.Would definitely be back and recommend.

My partner bumped his head a couple of times on one of the low exposed beams in the room which made us both a bit cautious when moving about the room. Something we would have got used to I am sure had we stayed longer

Superb breakfast freshly cooked to order, great selection of cereals, juice etc. Liked the extra touches during our stay- shortbread nibbles in room. Chilled bottled water, fresh chilled milk and cakes provided which was a lovely surprise. Room was unique and luxurious. Especially loved the shower and the quality of the sheets and bedding

There isn't anything to dislike..... Maybe the location isn't right in the main streets but the room sizes and views more than make up for this .....

The House is lovely. Gorgeous interiors downstairs and in the bedroom. Very well kept garden for guest use. I enjoyed relaxing in the deep freestanding bath and watching the clouds moving by from the chair in the huge bedroom window. Room was an excellent size. Excellent value for money given the room size compared to some guest houses in Bowness. The breakfast room is lovely to sit in too. Great choices at Breakfast . Nice touches including a fridge for guest use containing plenty of fresh milk , water and home made biscuits. Excellent hosts at the property. Well done Nick. Your house is pretty special ....
