I found the double beds too soft, but rest of family were happy. Vent in the en-suite bangs loudly in the wind - but sticking a piece of card across it stopped this. Some people may find number of woodlice inside disturbing (didn't bother us particularly.)

Plenty of space for family of four. Lots of natural light. Garden room very helpful for outdoor clothes, boot storage, etc. Wall lizards viewable from hot tub. Washing machine/drier v helpful.

    Nothing

Lovely cottage, in an excellent location for exploring the area. The weather wasn’t really on our side, but we got in a fair bit of sightseeing and the local walks along the south west coastal path were beautiful. The hot tub was great for soaking tired legs in at the end of the day! Wonderful views from the front bedroom windows. Simple instructions for access and excellent communication from the hosts. The cottage had everything we needed, our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

    Leaving!!

We loved the whole place. The location is stunning. The views are amazing. If you enjoy walking you have the SW Coast Path on your doorstep. If you want to leave the car at the property and don't fancy a walk, the Portland Coaster stops nearby to take you into Weymouth. The cottage has absolutely all you need to feel at home and a hot tub waiting at the end of the day was really appreciated! Cannot recommend highly enough.

No big deal, but perhaps don't leave a smelly mop inside! House much fresher after it was moved outside. Sink is past it's best and kitchen units are very tired and chipped. The Paintwork in places needs a professional touch. My husband is 6 foot 3 1/2 and hit his head on the smoke detector in the hall every day (it's in the middle) plus some doorways, notably the inner back door & the kitchen doorway. The outside paths needed a good sweep. The blackout curtains in the bedroom (very necessary) are just grey plastic and it would be so nice to have a pretty curtain attached. The street light outside the garden precludes star watching from the house.

We found the beds comfortable, and the chest of drawers and bedside table and wardrobe all useful. It was great having a shower and a bath. The stairs are reasonably easy with good hand rails. The living room is very attractive and the fresh flowers a nice touch. The hob was easy to use and quick to heat as was the oven. Fridge/ freezer kept our vegetables fresh. We loved the choice of easy chairs, especially the Conservatory ones and the high backed ones in the hall, which enabled us oldies to relax. Outside, the lush garden was a pleasure to behold and smell, with the white lilac flowering (despite the weeds!) And the view of the sea from the sheltered decking was much enjoyed, though hot when the sun shone as no shade. The hot tub is very good, (though having to put a smelly chlorine tablet in each day was unexpected, but we got used to it).-disposable gloves needed. You can park on the grass nearly opposite, avoiding the gates as others do, or on the road, but it's a bit busy. (But noise is not too bad in the solid house.) I had a problem with the dishwasher and a member of staff was round within the hour and fixed it. It is only minutes from the Bill (lighthouse) where we frequently sat on the edge of the rocks to watch & photograph the guillemots, razorbills, gannets, fulmars, peregrine and enjoy the ocean. Also the Bird Obs is even nearer and we are members so get free parking and birding advice! Good eateries abound, the Crabhouse being tops. Relaxing house and environment!

Steps for the hot tub would be nice. WiFi and phone signal aren't great (not the hosts fault! But worth knowing in advance)

Excellent location for walks and quiet, hot tub is amazing after those walks too! Very comfortable property, homely, decorated nicely, lots of character. Has everything you'd need for a week or two stay we felt. Absolutely loved the place and Dorset and strongly considering booking again next year already!

shame that the WiFi signal poor and the tv reception poor- whilst you’re not necessarily going to spend large amounts of time indoors, it was a challenge for the little one not to be able to watch telly- think this is just a signal adjustment that is needed- we certainly didn’t bother the hosts with this as feel it was just one of those things- I have to travel regularly to Dorset for work (partner and children have a small holiday at the same time) so would definitely book again.

location, size, cleanliness, garden and a kitchen that actually had items you would need to be able to cook

The property and furniture is dated. There were not enough mugs and glasses for a full house of guests and the plates were too tall for the dish washer.

The location was brilliant and we loved the sea views. When we had an issue the owners were very quick to give advise and visit to check it was fixed. The hot tub was great to sit in at the end of the day and it felt like a home away from home. easy parking, great views and comfortable house.

Property was in desperate need of TLC and a deep clean. Surfaces, especially in the kitchen were not maintained. Some of the furniture (dining chairs) were broken resulting in a near miss. Also the nesting tables had loose legs. The front entrance broke whilst we were there meaning they had to come out to fix it. The beds were very soft and squeaky. We also had to purchase a candle as there was a horrible damp smell on the ground floor. On top of all this, the property has a serious Woodlouse infestation stemming from the surrounding area. This needs immediate fixing as we had a young child with us and every ground floor surface constantly had woodlouse over it.

Beautiful location with plenty to do either a walk or drive away. The character of the property was lovely. Good amenities. Hot tub was a nice touch. Good size property for a family to stay. Travel cot was supplied.

On arrival the house was dark, dirty and had a smell of damp. I spent the first 2 hours cleaning the kitchen area before even bringing our belongings from the car. It was a very hot day, we had travelled eight and a half hours this was the last thing we wanted to be doing. I could write my name in the dust on top if the fridge freezer which was eye height! There were runs of grease on the cooker splash back and the cooker hood was disgusting. We decided we would make the most of our holiday and not let the house ruin our trip. In the evening we went to use the hot tub. We pulled back the cover and were met by a dirty looking tub with no step to get inside. It was visible from the clean area where other people had climbed in and out. We did not use the hot tub however, had to maintain it every day by adding cleaner tablets!!! If we were closer to home we would have returned home. The mattress in the master bedroom was far too soft we felt like we were lying on the bed frame (which sqeaked with every movement and had old drips of coffee down the side) the covers were ripped at the corners and popped off during the night which was very uncomfortable. The promotion photos do not tell the whole story of how tired this property is and how disappointed we were on arrival at this property. The garden looks lovely on the photos however we were met by a jungle of over grown plants, broken seats and a very tired decking area. Through out the house there were cob webs everywhere! We opened the sun room doors due to the hot weather, and had to close them due to the handles being ready to fall off (my husband is a carpenter) We left this property 3 days sooner than planned we could not live here any longer. I messaged the owner to let them know and was met by a very rude response. We have stayed in lots of cottages some half the price and have never been so disappointed.

The house has great views of the sea however, the windows are that dirty you can hardly see it!
