Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsFor the price we paid on this 4-star hotel we expected a bit more. The beds had 'laying-places' which meant you were about to role off. Simple extra things like a refrigerator or included breakfast in the price.
The location is really close to The Quiraing with a lovely view on the sea.

CanadaI think close to 20 pounds for a single serve Prosecco was a bit much.
When at the edge of the world on Skye, I can't think of a better place to stay. The location is incredible and gave us easy access to the main hikes we wanted to do. Friendly staff and lovely rooms.

United StatesThe room was a little dark, and the bed was not the most comfortable. A little old and creaky floors which was less than what we expected considering the price of flagship suites.
Nice hotel structure, amazing staff, bar and top notch restaurant. We had dinner at the hotel both nights.

AustraliaThe hotel is great, but the roads are not wonderful.
A very comfortable hotel, with the trappings of its previous existence as a hunting lodge. Excellent and friendly staff, who contributed to the enjoyment of our stay. The location is wild; it’s isolated, remote, in a great spot to enjoy the natural environment of Skye. Don’t expect any towns or night life, but it it’s adventure you’re after, this is the place. The hotel is a great place to relax after a day of adventuring.

EgyptStaff rather basic. The bedrooms need refurbishment , particularly le bathroom. We had a superior room supposed to have a stoning view… actually our view was a side view on sea but over roof and staff living area … finally really overpriced . It looks like they sell the location with no effort for making it a great place that could be.

United StatesThe carpet on the stairs and hallways was not clean. The toilet was perhaps original to the 1920s. The shower was subpar. Poor water pressure and difficult to operate.

United StatesOur room had some quirks like a broken ceiling fixture in the bathroom and shoddy paint around it. Not what I would have expected for this price. Dinner could have been outstanding (the scallop starter was truly spectacular) but the cauliflower main dis was an unfortunate mish-mash that did not come together well.
Wonderful bar and patio overlooking the sea!

CanadaDo no try to locate the painted sign or the lane to the hotel in the dark. Our GPS had us arrive one lane too early.
The staff was very welcoming, knowledgeable and informative about the area. The dining experience was wonderful. Our room in the Flora MacDonald Cottage was very serene and the gardens enchanting. Beautiful and incredible setting.

GuernseyThe price was really high, the evening meal cost us a fortune. I do not want to detract from the beauty of the rooms but from a facilities viewpoint the hotel room didn't offer a lot more then our other much cheaper hotels. We had a very small hairdryer, weak shower, the room was cluttered and the tv obscured by the 4 poster bed. The breakfast was disappointing, no cereal or toast or fruit, runny porridge and no granulated sugar, when we asked for sugar for the porridge they said they had none, but afterwards I realised they have it in the rooms! We ordered a veggie breakfast as we fancied the fruit pudding (black pudding alternative) when it came it was missing, we queried it and the waitress pointed to the veggie haggis and said it was that, when we asked about the haggis then she said oh yeah, there is no fruit pudding! No apology for not telling us that. The main meal is hit and miss, my choices were good and plenty of food and the beef beautifully cooked, my partners was poor, 5 scallops and no veg, so I needed to share. The restaurant prices should have been for excellent service and food, but we ate in a bar with dodgy floorboards. We like a bar to eat in, but then expect bar food and bar food prices. There is no lift, but they did take our bags up. The car park is a distance from the hotel, terrible and muddy in the rain, the drive to the hotel is awful. The bedding etc was clean but the windows were not, and the bathroom floor was not either. I was expecting luxury bath products, but we had sharing push tubs which was a shame. For the price there was nothing that I could find to justify the money paid, we had better value everywhere else for comparative facilities, albeit not a 4 poster bed, but this did not add £200 a night to the value of my sleep. You pay for the view and location great, but this is not enough to make it value for money for me.
The location is stunning, great views of the sea and mountains. I was, thankfully due to the weather, upgraded to a room in the hotel not in the cottage. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The decor was lovely and Leon and the barman were very friendly and managed a difficult guest brilliantly.
