How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Had no faults.
The location was very handy for the town. The room was warm, comfortable with a good selection of tea, coffee & biscuits. The shower was good, with easy use of toiletries.

More choice at breakfast
Breakfast was a bit minimal, I would have liked some fruit with yoghurt etc. I rarely eat a cooked breakfast. Husband enjoyed his cooked breakfast and especially the gluten free bread and sausage. He was jealous that I had a really good black pudding. Room was comfortable and location very good.

The breakfast menu choices appear to be limited but staff are more than happy to cook alternatives i.e.,scrambled eggs . It perhaps needs to reflect this
The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff unobtrusive and helpful . Breakfast was good. Good location easy access into town and plenty of eateries nearby.

As this was a week day & I needed to get off to work, a flexible breakfast time before 08.00am would have been preferred
Easy booking in with the door codes Good location, within walking distance to restaurants & pubs Staff were fab, I didn't have time to sit down for breakfast & they made me a bacon sandwich to take away Great price, perfect for an overnight or a few days exploring Harrogate & the surrounding area

Because it is management run once everything is sorted there is no one on site to sort any issues like no fresh milk available. Our toilet had not been cleaned prior to arrival

Traffic a little bit noisy.

The beds weren't very comfortable and out of our 2 rooms the 1 could do with updating a little.
Lovely to see a honesty bar and self access to the hotel. Staff were very welcoming at breakfast.

We had trouble gaining access to property, no message about access details, asked for someone to let us in but he wouldn't he said look at your email which we had not received. Room was upstairs at the top which was hard as Mrs Mansfield has mobility problems. The lady said you have got this room. Let us use toilet.Husband struggle with suitcase. The breakfast was excellent. The room was spacious and clean. Be nice if lounge had a settee.

Absolutely nothing. Well except for one guest who’d obviously had a drink one night and struggled with the door system, but not the owners fault.
Just loved it. Location spot on. Comfy beds. Great shower pressure. Breakfast excellent. Staff were great as was communication beforehand. Entry is absolutely genius. Stay, you won’t regret it.

The only negative comment was the room was very hot as we were unable to turn radiator off in the bathroom. We got around this by keeping bathroom door shut and opening windows.
The location was excellent, we were fortunate enough to find a guest house with parking spaces available. The breakfast was tasty cooked to order. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfy bed and quiet of a night.
