Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing to dislike really.
A very warm and very friendly atmosphere. The food was of a very good standard and served quite quickly. The location was perfect for us, a good central location for the places we planned to visit. Also being on the edge of the moor gave easy access to Dartmoor for walks.

United KingdomPoor check in at the bar on a Sunday. No real information given other than handed the key for the room. Had to leave at 0745 to get to a meeting so couldn't get breakfast. Only told as was leaving that we could have ordered a packed meal beforehand.. Desperatley needs an experienced manager to oversee the young, but keen, staff. Suspect it's because it's the low season. Hopefully the service will improve as it gets busier.
Good location for the moor. Good parking. Friendly staff. Very dog friendly.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like. The only suggestion would be to have cereal and fruit juice to help yourself to while waiting for the cooked breakfast.
Breakfast was cooked lovely. The girls behind the bar who served us were all really nice and welcoming.

United KingdomI couldn't get hot water in the sink in the morning but the electric shower worked fine. I was disappointed with the cooked breakfast.
Good parking. Room was very big & comfortable if a little dated, however the bed was very comfy & the price was very good indeed. WiFi was ok. Lovely porridge & excellent coffee with frothed milk.

United Kingdomonly an observation not a 'didn't like' as it really was outstanding value, but Just three hangers in the wardrobe, could have done with a few more. No hairdryer in room,( but I didn't ask at the bar - likely they have one they could provide) .
For such a reasonable price per night, including 2 of us and breakfast, plus a dog, it was excellent value! Great breakfast, really big - again I didn't expect that, and some choices too. Evening meal purchased in the bar both nights of our stay, and was great food, reasonably priced. Dog walk up onto the moor direct from the pub, which was great. Plenty of hot water in the bathroom so you could have a long soak in the bath, shower provided too. Comfy bed, tea and coffee. No fuss easy check in, parking, key for outside door to come and go at any time.

SwedenThe room was very cold upon arrival, no heating on whatsoever. Maybe you could turn on the heat a couple of hours prior to guests' arrival? Bathtubs are very slippery, it would have been nice with an anti slip mat. A heated towel rack would be nice.
It's always nice with a pub downstairs. Nice size room. Comfortable bed. Nice and helpful staff! Great location! Bus stop right outside.

After a small hiccup of keys for the first evening the stay was just what I required to walk some of the North moor. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast hearty and tasty. The room was basic but I didn't expect anything else. Bed comfortable.

United KingdomIt lacked the cosmopolitan range of tonic waters for the gin I wanted. FYI
Understand what you are paying for and where. Be comfortable with this and you will be fine: it’s a Dartmoor pub with rooms serving the walking community at a great price. Neither flash nor fancy, the tin says it all. Great value for the non fancy folk.

United KingdomI appreciate energy costs are crippling and I understand that as we were at times the only guests they didn't want to run the central heating but they could have put on the oil filled electric radiator when they knew we'd checked in, as it took a very long time to warm the room and gave a worrying first impression.. Strange as they are lovelly helpful staff
Food, both breakfast and evening meal, is really great, good helpings, freshly cooked and a good selection. Dog friendly. Good size bedroom.

The location of The Fox and Hounds is very good although it is on a very busy main road. I believe there are some lovely walks from the car park. The staff were very friendly. The decor and furnishings are pretty dated. The menu is rather limited but the food was okay. It was good value for money.
