How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Everything but the crowning glory was the food in Garrods Bar & Restaurant. It was tremendous and lots of it plus a great selection of ales and wine plus excellent service

Everything was fine
A nice friendly atmosphere from the moment that we checked in. The room was comfortable, clean and tidy and nice sized bed which was comfortable, tea and coffee supplied, we had lovely sea views from the room which also had a beautiful front garden. The breakfast time was between 7.30am - 9.30 each morning with a lovely cooked breakfast and a large pot of tea and also fruit juice, cereals and toast. The bar at the property offer a large range of drinks and reasonable prices. It has been a family run business for many years and they look after their guests. They also have a restaurant but not sure if it’s open everyday but looks good. Forgot to mention that there is an onsite car park and the back of the building. We will definitely return as we like the location.

Nothing other than silly English weather.
Stayed at the Furzedown a few times. Lovely family run hotel with a good atmosphere. Always feel very at home and comfortable here. Food good too.

The rooms are perfect for a stay, clean and functional. The breakfast is very good with a good selection of options The owners and staff will go the extra mile to make your stay a rememberable one, we cannot praise and thank them enough for what they did for us and how they cared for us while we were there. they really set the benchmark for how a hotel should be run.

Room was a bit on the small side, and sound proofing was more or less zero, but it's a Victorian hotel, so it's no wonder. It would have been nice to have proper curtains to make the room properly dark at night.
Great value for money. Exceptionally friendly staff. Very welcoming reception. Breakfast was excellent.

Car park wasn't the easiest to access and use. There was a function on in evening which disturbed rest but only until midnight.

Amazingly friendly and obliging staff. We had a gorgeous Sea view. The breakfast is very nice with a great selection and plenty.. There is also a lounge bar at the hotel which is comfortable and warm. This was our second visit and would use this hotel again in the future if coming back to Great Yarmouth.

There wasn't anything we did not like here. We had the break we went for. We had a seaview room, perfect location for what we wanted.

Lovely charming seafront hotel. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts gave a great choice. Location is perfect for those family strolls.

We struggled to get our car down the narrow side entrance and into a parking slot at rear - only to be told later it was free parking on road until April. Would be useful for first timers to know earlier !!
Breakfast excellent. Staff pleasant & helpful. In restaurant even though they had a party for 40 they still found as a quiet table in side room and were very attentive

The hotel’s Restaurant wasn’t open on Monday night but there were plenty of other options, so it wasn’t an issue.
Brilliant location and lovely, helpful staff. It’s a tight drive at the side of the hotel to access the car park - so you just need to take your time.
