How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Room was small with limited space to get around the bed.
Good location very close to Gatwick airport. Good for pre flight stays. Good pub within easy walking distance.

We could not really find fault with the Gainsborough at all.
The room was great. The staff was extremely helpful and we really appreciated the extra help that we received from Krunal. He arranged our taxi to Heathrow and we arrived in plenty of time for our flight.

* no way of locking my room door from inside (no snick, or chain) - so didn't feel very safe as single woman travelling alone (and hotel seemed to be mostly for contractors/working men) * no hair dryer (the one time I didn't bother taking one!), so a bit frustrating when I wanted to wash my hair - good job I checked before I got in the shower!
Lovely comfortable bed; on-site parking available; very handy for airport; quiet location; petrol station nearby to fill up before journey home

Too many lights in the room (the green lights above the doors). They were bright even when the regular room lights were off. The bed and pillows weren’t very comfortable.
Staff was friendly. It’s located close to the airport. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Room seemed newly renovated.

Locks on the door need updating and general freshen up is needed. New carpets and new paint needs to bring it more up to date.
Accessible to airport and in a quiet location. Place was simplistic and minimalistic

Towel was a bit dirty; window was very dirty inside; smell of food; a little overpriced for what it is.
Quite clean; shared bathroom is very close to bedroom; sink in bedroom; fan in bedroom; easy check in and check out; Little Asda 5 minute walk away; 20 minute walk to North Terminal via footpath behind Travelodge. Similar time walk to South Terminal via footpath in The Crescent.

There was some shuffling around of furniture or something downstairs at around 0430 which went on for ages and was highly annoying. As a light sleeper it meant I didn’t get a good nights much needed sleep. I assume this was not a guest as it sounded like organised chaos.
It was adequate for a nights stay. It was generally quiet but please see comment below. Otherwise, the owner was very polite and accommodating, the room small but adequate for one night’s stay.

Served the purpose of staying overnight before getting a flight in the morning, the walk to the station is quite far when you’ve got luggage so a taxi is easier

The bedroom was cold and I couldn’t turn on the heating in the bedroom but the one in the bathroom was on. The bedding was also too thin.
The house appeared to been refurbished recently so the bedroom I’ve stayed was new. The beds were very comfortable. I’ve been coming to this hotel for years and I stay every time I need to travel to london. Is 10min walking from the train station Horley and they have a car park too. They used to have transfer to the airport but not anymore, however u can get a taxi and it costs around 15£. The hotel will provide with the taxi info if u request.

The bathroom. No shuttle service to Gatwick airport.
Wide and comfortable single bed. Near trail station but no bus after 8pm. Simple online check-in, useful for late arrivals. Useful taxi info written in the welcome brochure.

The sharing area like the sofa, table, microwave and fridge are dirty. Most people for short stays so don't bother.
Clean and comfortable bed. Quiet neighborhood. WiFi. Friendly and responding reception staff even just two staff in the accommodations, but they are accessible. Easy to locate the accommodations location.

No lift for heavy luggage so be warned. But wasn't a big issue.
It was near to Gatwick Airport for our connecting flight and due to our late arrival access was easy. Unfortunately we had no hot water in our room but we received a discount from our original price due to this.
