Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMinor things: bathroom light needs to be brighter; furnishings a little tired.
The pub itself was stunning inside and out. The setting is picturesque. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Shower was great. Breakfast was plentiful although because we were later over for breakfast, it was a wee bit slow in being served up. Maybe an extra member of staff at this busy time when so many guests arrive at once! Housekeeping were very quick to provide an iron and iron board needed to press wedding outfits. When my daughters arrived in the morning they were immediately shown where their room would be on their return from the wedding reception we were all attending. Towels were provided for them so they could shower in our guest room. Thank you.

United KingdomOur garden room was a good size but large patio doors meant a loss of privacy unless curtains were drawn.
Great value including a good cooked breakfast. Traditional countryside pub in nice rural setting and offering tasty evening meals. Friendly staff. Very handy for Basingstoke Hospital.

United KingdomDue to an issue there was a very limited food menu - and the food wasn't great. People travel for work generally start work before breakfast is even offered.
Location ideal for work. Comfortable room

United KingdomMeant to have a restaurant so we didn’t have to go out in the evening. However, restaurant closed at 6 pm because it was a bank holiday. Really annoying because we booked a table 5 weeks before our stay and they only rang to inform us on the day.
Great price with a good location, lovely freshly cooked breakfast, good outside space ( especially in the summer), good sized room

United KingdomThere was nothing we disliked about the George and Dragon.
This place is a little bit of heaven. So quiet and peaceful, perfect place to relax. The staff here are so lovely nothing seems to be to much trouble. The food was really nice, all fresh. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Nice hot shower. This place is perfect for a visit to Highclere Castle as its 20mins down the road. Without a doubt we would definately visit again. United KingdomI can't say there was anything about our stay that displeased us. It was great.
George and Dragon pub and hotel is set in the glorious English countryside visiting in spring it's idyllic. Staff behind the bar were welcoming and helpful. Keys handed over we settled into our accomodations which consisted of a chalet style block in the grounds of the pub. Rooms warm comfortable decent size double bed warm and cosy. Tea making facilities in the room. Large fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bathroom clean overhead shower in bath. Wifi. Breakfast wonderful full English with a choice of vegetarian. Tea coffee juices cereal. I can't praise the breakfast enough very tasty and great portions. We also had an evening meal my partner fish and chips had huge portions which he somehow managed to finish he said it was delicious. I had salmon and broccoli in a dill sauce on a bed of potatoes it was beautifully cooked. We stayed two nights would have been happy to stay longer.

AustraliaThe hot water is on a timer, so that was an issue on a day when we had an early start.
The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, as were all the meals at the George and Dragon. The location is lovely and the staff very friendly.

United KingdomThe bathroom would have benefitted from a fresh coat of paint but the shower etc worked well and plenty of hot water. I felt a bit in a goldfish bowel as the room had double patio doors so anyone could see in to the room, bed etc. so had to keep the curtains closed.
The staff were very good and welcoming. Dinner was very good and quick service. Breakfast was very tasty. Some condiments were missing but I could have asked for them. However, I was on quite a tight time line so had to crack on.

United KingdomNo real problems to be honest, enjoyed my breakfast, her ladyship was a bit dissapointed with the scrambled egg, she said she will pick something else next time.
Having stayed before, the location is ideal for us for an overnight stop, enjoyed the meal in the bar which meant time to relax.

United KingdomThe room was freezing I am glad it was not a cold night. Did put heater on but nothing happened. I had to wait a while for my breakfast which meant I ate alone which was not ideal but not the worst case in the world
The cabins were great and food we ate in the evening was really good. Staff were lovely really helpful. They catered well for hubby and his gluten intolerance.

Czech Republicnothing ;)
George and Dragon accommodation and pub is a lovely place, approximately 1 hour of drive from Heathrow airport. The location is very good, as you can easily reach Highclere castle from the Downton Abbey series within cca 20mins by car, or other nice places e.g Windsor castle or Salisbury or Stonehenge etc within less than an hour approximately. The staff is very nice and friendly, the accommodation very comfortable and you will feel very private and in silence - you will have rooms in separate buildings (not the same as reception/pub) ;) Sufficient parking places available. There is breakfast served for the hosts every day, you can choose from several options and it will be prepared freshly and just for you (Full English, eggs on toast, porridge + others) + options of juices, cereals, coffee, etc. The lunch/dinner option is there too, we tried several foods, such as Sunday roasted meats, burgers, small food (chicken and fish), and dessert (crumble) as well + the beer of course. The food was really good, prepared in a reasonable time and for a reasonable price ;) Overall we would really recommend this place and would love to come back when next visit UK again!

All the meals we had there were basic but tasty, well cooked and the new Thai menu was delicious. The room was very comfortable and everything we needed was provided. The right team are in place to look after and nurture this lovely old pub.

United KingdomThere wasn't anything about the hotel we didn't like. The only thing I'd say could be improved is due to my wife being disabled, a hand rail in the shower would have helped. Also, due to the car park being gravel it was difficult to maneuver a wheel chair.
Lovely comfortable stay, the food was delicious and this was topped off with really friendly, helpful staff 🙂

United KingdomThe cooked English breakfast was very good quality and plentiful. However the breakfast service was a bit disappointing. We had to arrange furniture and crockery/ cutlery ourselves for our party of 5. The wait was long as it appeared there was only one young lady on duty. There was hardly any fruit juice left and it wasn't being replenished. We couldn't have cereal as there wasn't enough milk for 5. There were no pastries in evidence despite them being mentioned on the menu. However all this being said we would definitely opt to stay here again..we understand it has recently been taken over by new owners who will most probably iron out these little flaws once staff are fully trained..the poor waitress was like a rabbit caught in headlights and maybe should not have been attending the entire breakfast room on her own.
Really wonderful warm welcome from Sharon "chuckles" ...showed us the rooms we had booked so we could decide which was best for my elderly mother. The rooms were spacious and clean and are due to be refurbished. Mattresses were very comfortable and we all slept well.
