The room was tired, the socket for the kettle was broken, the TV was stuck together, the beds sunk in the middle and the radiators were stuck, (they did release them the next day). The bathroom had skirting board half painted and the shower just dribbled water out. The lighting was very dim (notwithstanding dimmers) by the wardrobe the lights didn’t work. The furniture needs to be organised. The pub lounge was rather uncomfortable and chairs needed a deep clean.

Fab breakfast, meal really great, the food was exceptional.

The room we were in this time didn't have a shower , it did have a bath with a mixer tap ,

The staff were all lovely and welcoming, the food menu was varied and the meals we had were delicious and were large portions , the location is ideal for walkers sort drive to Pickering and Thornton le dale, we have stayed at the George and dragon 3 times now , very dog friendly water and biscuits given to the dog

My room was quite dark, across the car park and up concrete steps. This was difficult for me to negotiate with poor knees and a heavy suitcase. The socket for the kettle was on the floor, next to the TV, so not really easily accessible. The toilet paper was really thin so I bought my own. (I realise I could have asked for more but chose not to). I did not care for the choice of milk sachets in the room but understand that they might be more convenient than the round ones.

The breakfast and evening meal were excellent, hot, tasty and beautifully presented. The portions were excellent and the service was brilliant, from highly attentive staff. I felt nothing was too much trouble. The chef is to be congratulated on both the cooking and the presentation of the food and the ladies who served my breakfast each morning were just fabulous! My Daughter-in-law really enjoyed her vegetarian lasagne and said it was the best she'd ever tasted.

Thin walls between rooms

It's always good for us to have two chairs in the bedroom as we often like to sit and read . Would have preferred an extra chair rather than quite large chest of drawers.

The food was excellent quality and very good value, especially the Sunday lunch. All very fresh, perfectly cooked and well presented. Excellent service too. Bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. Also liked the unusual age of the building and information on its history.

Only fault was nothing to do with the George and dragon just other guests being ignorant and making noise early in the morning when they were going out for work or breakfast.

There was nothing we didn't like.

The breakfast was really good and well presented. We had a quiet room. Staff really friendly and helpful and pub was central location to where we needed to be. We would definitely love to stay again.

If it wants to move to 5 star Inn probably needs new flooring but that will cost a fair bit!!!

Mattress was too soft. Bathroom door was noisy as was door to court yard. Mould in shower.
