Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom- kitchen didn't have space for food, the toaster needed to be plugged in the living room, as there was no socket - not well equipped kitchen, missing spoons, forks, only two tiny pans - bedside lamps don't have sockets near them, so they look good but not functional - no blinds in the living room - we Literally felt like in big brother, everyone on the parking lot could see us - rooms are very small, there is just enough space for beds, one of the bedrooms should be single, and not twin - there is 10cm between the beds.
Brand new, refurbished, new design, very Instagram- able. Great location. Needs a bit of TLC and imagination and will be 10/10.

United KingdomThe apartment booked was not the apartment we received which should have been overlooking the river Mersey and on the ground floor. So a little disappointing. The apartment we received had some silly cleaning issues not carried prior to our entry but not that were going to prevent enjoying the venue. The house development is still a work in progress and several areas await finishing. Lifts, parking area, gated access, landscaping riverside.
A really nice property with history converted into 34 apartments. The apartment was fitted out nicely and had most things we required.

United KingdomOnly informed of the external renovations the day before arrival and truly wouldn't have minded that, as long as the inside was acceptable. Feel this is very unfair due to it being difficult to get an alternative at such short notice. In the end I had to book somewhere else after we arrived (after a very long day of travelling) for the rest of the stay. If we had arrived earlier I would not have stayed Unable to get TV to work, all heating off and no instructions on how to work it. I managed to get the hall heater to work but couldn't get the living room one to work. There is a £75 cleaning charge per stay, which I don't mind as long as that means the apartment is clean. I moved the coffee table to set up the sofa bed and found quite a lot of food debris underneath. The fridge still had food debris inside and the bin was dirty. I contacted the property to request internet details, to ask about the curtains and also tell them there was broken glass in the corridor. They responded with the instructions for the internet but ignored my queries about the curtains & the glass. They did refund the 2 days we didn't use but it worked out an expensive mistake due to the cleaning charge
Beautiful building and well located but still under renovation and I don't feel that it should be rented out in the state it is. Ground floor flat so access was good for my mum, who can't do many steps but would definitely not be wheelchair accessible. Looks like the lift is currently being installed. Renovations inside the flat itself are probably mostly complete and it is advertised as having a sofa bed in the living room. Unfortunately, as there are no curtains on the huge, very impressive bay windows so I was able to catch the beautiful sunrise at 5am, whether I wanted to or not! Bedroom was lovely but curtains were over a metre too short for the very high windows so no privacy or way to block out the light. Lovely wardrobe but unable to use it as the pile of the carpet is too high so the doors are stuck closed. Not sure if fire inspections will have been carried out yet as there was a dust cover on the smoke alarm. Fabulous entrance with fob security system but the fire door at the end of the corridor was open and I couldn't close it.

GermanyAll in all nothing really meets professional standard: We arrived with 4 people and only had two towels. It took 4 (four) days to get an answer from the host, as telephone wasn't answered and communication was reduced to the "booking-app" Kitchen without dish-washer and without drying towel. Greasy pots and pans. Left groceries in the kitchen. Toilet without toilet-brush. Cealing lights without lampshade, bulp only. Carpet flooring, but no hoover. TV without arial, only Amazon Fire stick. And so on...
