Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing.
The hosts were both so accommodating and were so lovely. Was so nice to be able to chat with them at breakfast and actually get to know them as it felt like a much more personal stay as opposed to what you’d get staying at a hotel. Breakfast was simple and suited us just fine. Beds were comfy and had no issues with room temperature. Hosts went above and beyond to cater to any of our needs. Great location as well.

Very central for walks, places to eat, Charles is an amazing host, very friendly. Met his wife Jane briefly in the morning, B & B is spotless, bed so comfortable, bedding and pillows so warm, had a great night's sleep.

United KingdomWe had booked for 2 nights, i wish it could have been longer
I loved the warm welcome we got when we arrived. CHarles and Jane were very nice. Nothing was any bother. After our breafast on 2nd morning we had a lovely conversation about music and all the various events that are held in the village. We are planning a return journey to stay a little longer. The town has a couple of pubs restaurants cafes and hotels. Plenty to see and do. B&B at No 4 is a must

United KingdomOnly our difficulty trying to get the door to our room opened which was largely user error on our part. In retrospect a key to the door would be simpler - but would not expect this to be changed in future. Charles did mention that the security handle should be turned toward the bathroom which we did when we closed the door but hadn’t realised we should do the same when we were trying to open it. I did try it once or twice but couldn’t get the door open on my attempt. Was still user error though as when Charles tried it he opened it straight away!!!!! We were just sorry that we had to wake him though to ‘fix’ this for us. Only thing I could suggest to remedy this - perhaps add a note in the welcome pack next to the key code. Or even suggest an idiot proof demo when checking in. Although we would know what to do now for our next visit!!!!
Overall really good value for money. Close to the wedding we attended and excellent if you were using it as a base for Biggar or surrounding area. Hosts were extremely hospitable and accommodating. Charles in particular was so helpful and even when we woke him on our return as we were having difficulty getting our door opened he remained pleasant and kind. The courtyard will be lovely once the raised flower beds are complete and a real sun trap I expect. Care and attention to detail.

United KingdomWhilst the bathroom was private and for our sole use the entry door was next to the room door. Robes were provided for use to help with privacy and, because there was only 1 other room for guest use privacy wasn't a problem, however we would still prefer an actual en-suite layout. Due to location there was no view as such from the room, but privacy was ensured by the use of a roller blind and net curtain.
The B&B was immaculately clean, the bed comfortable and the hosts welcoming. The location was in the heart of the town and also very close to the venue at which we were attending a wedding. Toiletries were provided for guest use and the continental breakfast was plentiful. The duvet was particularly comfortable. There was a lock on the room door, should guests wish to use it. We would happily stay again should we need lodgings in the area.

United KingdomDuring the night there was a sound that would start that disturbed my sleep. It sounded like a refrigeration unit. It would last about a minute but would have multiple times an hour. I’m not it was from inside or outside the property.
Hosts were fantastic. Really helpful and did everything they could to accommodate our additional requirements. Room was lovely and it’s by far the best continental breakfast I’ve ever been offered. Lots of choice.

United KingdomBreakfast was a bit disappointing. Pain au chocolate and toast/cereal. Would have been better to be able to just help yourself as felt a bit awkward.
Great location, very quiet. Compact room, but very comfortable. Bathroom was next door, but not shared. Nice touch that dressing gown was provided instead of having to fully dress after showering. Liked the cafetiere and biscuit. Owner was very friendly and helpful with recommendations.

United KingdomThe lighting in the room isn't the best for doing wedding makeup, so it might be helpful to bring a ring light if that's why you're staying.
Charles and Jane were incredibly welcoming and made everything easy and stress free. Our room was just what we needed for a two night stay in Biggar for a wedding at Cornhill Castle: comfy, with a private bathroom and the perfect size to get "wedding ready". The location is also brilliant, with free parking on the High Street less than a minute walk from the B&B. 10/10 would recommend. Thanks again for having us!
