Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomunfortunately there was a couple of irritating things. no cups or mugs?! would have been nice to have been informed from the get go rather than have to go on goose chase before shops shut. Make sure you remember to bring
They say location is key in most things in life and this studio was just that. lovely part of London with a nice high street 2 minute walk away, Hyde Park within 15 and Museums nearby walking too

United KingdomFirst off,i was sent to a different hotel to pick up the keys. When we got there and pick the key we then had to walked for a about 15mins with my mum's bad foot. Soon as we arrive in this so called "flat hotel" wecouldnt find the room, i went up and down with these steps that is around 200 steps and so steep aswell. First impression wasthe place was crumbling. Then after 5mins wr finally find the room that we first thought was store as it doesnt have any some sort of room number. Soon as wegot it the first thing was the bed nothing else even though i thought i booked a family room. So i decided to call the host and asked him if i can get a new room, which he made me wait for another 15-20mins even though i told him we in the rush as we need to meet with some friends. I rang him no answer then finally picked just to tell us no room is available for family. So i asked him for a refund but i have to negotiate with booking.com and of course nothing can be done as this scamming so called flat hotel wouldnt let me have it. So we left and got a new better hotel after wasting an hour walking around looking for thus hotel and getting the keys and fi ding the room. Its like a real life quest. I messaged the host the last time if i can use it another time and ofcno reply again ignored my messages. So dont even bother booking tjis scamming hotel. And careful when u booked it as the photos is so misleading showing all the rooms but not the one u actually booked. I will attached our conversation

United KingdomOriginally, the keys were to be dropped off, but we ended up having to walk 20 mins to collect them. Very cheap furnishings, 1 thin pillow, no table & chairs as in the booking.com photos. It was very dirty and looks like it had had a quick sweep only. Mugs were dirty, so we did not use them. Kitchen cupboard door loose. The shower doors did not close properly, so it caused water to leak onto the bathroom floor, making it dangerous as there was no mat to soak it up. Only 1 small thin towel supplied. The room could do with new double glazed windows and a good makeover.
The only good thing was its location.

United KingdomWhole place was tatty & in need of updating, the approach to the flat was dirty with stained carpets & broken parts to the stair balustrade. The fire alarm control panel was beeping throughout our stay & seemed to be of no concern to the person who met us with the key. The entrance door had no latch on it. Whilst the bed was comfortable & the bedding clean the rest of the flat was dirty, with stains on the walls. The kitchen sink tap was loose & the sponges left for washing up were second hand & dirty. The standard door to the adjacent flat was interesting , appeared to be nailed shut with no handle or lock. I doubt that this would comply with fire regulations & listening to everything that was said in the adjacent flat was an interesting feature to the accommodation. My partner was so distressed by the condition of the apartment she went an stayed with friend in London for the second night of our stay.
Well heated & good pressure & hot water on the shower. Price was cheap for this part of London.

IrelandIt was musty, dark and very small, rather like a students accommodation. The building was empty other than us and hadn't been occupied for some time. We were told it was 350 metres from Gloucester Road underground station on the main road, whereas it was half a mile away, in an alleyway behind a cat and dog grooming salon and Indian restaurant. Also outside the front door was a dumping ground for the locals to leave their rubbish. It was such a bleak area that my wife said she would be uncomfortable walking out.

United KingdomDidn’t like the fact you have to wait 5-10 min for your keys to be given to you. When we got in the place just looked really run down there was mold on the curtains and the bedroom door looked really old with some of the wood coming off. Wasn’t the worst but just didn’t feel safe and the mold just really put me off

United KingdomThis is a great example of the sad decline in standards created by people who want to charge as much as they can and who are offering as little as they can. The property address is not located between the door numbers it should be but is on a side street further up the main road This should have been made clear when I collected the keys from a rather unhelpful and grumpy receptionist at a hotel almost a miles walk away . The property is extremely shabby, noisy and has very basic facilities. The only positive I can add is that the shower was good.
