Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe carpets were sticky and dirty as we went up the stairs to our room. Sheets were stained and there was a sick stain on the base of the bed. The room was stuffy and I was unsure if the sheets had even been changed. We stayed two nights and the room was not clean we didn’t even get clean cups. In the bathroom, the toilet seat was broken and the shower didn’t work. It was cold came then hot for few seconds and then went freezing cold . This was too far to the city centre journey was around 40 minutes by bus 30 minutes by taxi .
Kettle in room. Free parking. Staff did advise us of how to get into city. Taxi £45 Uber £23 Bus around £5 Good for travelling workmen if you’re not fussy and just want to get your head down.

United KingdomI initially rang up before I arrived to see if there was parking, from the moment of this phone call to the end of my visit I hated every moment. Over priced and nothing works, It was unclean and gave hooker vibes. The neon sign which is visible saying ‘let’s party’ when you enter the property really helped to enforce this. The bathroom is dirty and unclean, the drains smelt really bad, the shower head was broken and the carpets were not clean. Such things like mirrors were dirty and felt like the only thing which had been cleaned was a change of bedding (I attempted to reassure myself anyway).
The hidden room attached to our room, was very mysterious and added a sense of uncertainty. The bonus was part of the wall missing in this room so we could see into the wall space.

United KingdomDue to some local incidents, outside doors would be locked after a certain time and staff had to be informed if we were likely to be returning late or else we would be locked out until morning
A good base a small ways out of Edinburgh, in a beautiful historic pub. Fully worth the money saved if you're willing to commute into the city.

United KingdomThe amount of rules. Ridiculous attitudes And separate entities. I didn't abuse the hotel however was abused by foolish rules spiting other for there behaviour. Move on as there's people who would of enjoyed it had you bothered to put the heating on. Or provided keys to get back in. Stick your rules where the sun don't shine and smile that you had guest with a sense of humour otherwise be crying more about this half hearted. Oh it's cheap. Not it's expensive as it's freezing. And no one cares as the pub makes money the restaurant seemingly. Yet the people in the hotel are treated with a bad attitude from the onset. Judges where wigs. Been to a lot of hotels. The way I was treated first instant. Rude. Abrupt Hey If someone owned it Instead if buck passing. Money back. As well spent minimum time there. Suggestion create a better environment. New guests new attitudes required. Non drinkers in a pub imagine that . Hey one thing free here. The car park. Strife in Fife. Oh life.

United KingdomThe location is further from the city than one thinks and not well connected late at night/early morning. However, it offers a clean and comfy room for ⅓ of what you paid in the city so it is a great option if you are travelling in a tight budget.
The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful. They helped me plan my way to the airport early in the morning and booked a taxi for me.

United KingdomIt was impossible to get a hot shower. The showers were mouldy too.. (Maid let me into another room to use the shower but it was freezing too). The hotel, with a little work could be excellent. They just need to invest some money into showers. And maybe Wi-Fi.. The smell from the restaurant downstairs was overpowering.
The staff were very nice, the place was clean and the beds very comfortable..

Czech RepublicThe only disandvantage is the shower/toilet. It is a single room for both ladies and gents for the whole floor (about 6 rooms?). You should be aware of this. Otherwise it is OK. The shower is very difficult to set up - it switched between too hot and too cold.

United KingdomThis hotel is a cesspit. The room was full of flies. Mould on the walls and shower - a serious health and safety issue btw. They advertise a kitchen which I wouldn't let my dog eat in. Everything was filthy. Open the bin and a swarm of flies came out. Someone was smoking so the whole place was full of cigarette smoke - illegal. I asked a person who stayed there permanently who was heating up food, if there were mice - she said, no, not any more. I didn't believe her.
Nothing. It was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed and not fit for human habitation. The lady at reception was very nice and kind. I feel sorry for her having to work in such a dump.
