Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaBathrooms had mold. Beds are old. Outdoor night lights are dark. Coffeemaker is old and doesn’t make hot fresh coffee. There was a weird taste to it. Kettle in room had calcium buildup. Curtains were old. My shower drain didn’t drain. Handle was broken.
Sanjeewa was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Made me feel very welcomed. He definitely made me feel comfortable. Fairly clean. Beds were clean. Very close to the Main Street. Close to grocery store. Coffee shops and restaurants.

CanadaThey are working hard to improve their facility.
The hosts were very accommodating. The location was perfect. We went to Canterbury for its historic past. The Cathedral was an easy walk, The recommended Restaurant was ideal for dinner. The Izzi Italian restaurant had wonderful food and excellent wait staff. The Band B had a very extensive variety of food for breakfast in a pleasant breakfast room

United KingdomThe place is dated and in need of restoration. Health and safety concerns with wires and doors not locking properly. Noisy at night with abode hotel deliveries and collections in middle of night. Too much on one staff member- seemed a bit unfair as he was doing everything! Shower didn’t fit in its holder- bed was not very comfy and no lighting outside to let yourself in at night.
The breakfast was ok. One person running everything and he worked so hard. Location perfect.

BelgiumThe fact that there was no parking could have been better announced. They then recommended a very expensive parking lot. We found a way cheaper one, still a walking distance away.
The location was the biggest benefit for us. It was also a good stay for the money we paid.

AustraliaThe OWNERS of the hotel need to spend some money to make some improvements / carry out renovations properly - especially in the bathrooms, as well as provide the manager with money to make urgent repairs, eg to toilet seats.
The manager was very kind and friendly and worked hard to make us feel comfortable and welcome in the hotel. The hotel was in a Central Location 50m from High St in Canterbury, about 10 - 15 mins walk from Canterbury West Station. The building is a 16th / 17th building with steep and narrow stairs. If you are not willing to carry your luggage up 1-2 flights of stairs, then I recommend finding somewhere else to stay (and good luck) The manager made sure that we had everything that we wanted for breakfast and saw us out when we left the hotel.

United StatesSome minor fixes would make this place so much better but right now it just feels a bit run down. Everything is a little bit broken or cheaply put together. They should probably also forget about breakfast. It was bad. I’m probably the easiest person to please when it comes to breakfast. I just want coffee and anything halfway decent to eat. This was really disappointing. The coffee was instant and self-serve. The bread for the toast was poor quality. The cheese and meats were awful and not offered in generous portions. With all the excellent breakfast choices so close by in Canterbury, this inn would probably be better off not offering it at all. It lowered my opinion if the place — by a lot. Instead they should put some money into improving the fixtures in the bathroom and shower or getting better locks on the doors. Even the tv remote was taped together. It’s such a great building and location but the interior is disappointing.
Fantastic location. The bed was comfortable and the heat worked.

United KingdomRoom was cold - but remediated when the manager brought up a replacement heater. Beds were not comfortable.TV was fine after re-tuning. Breakfast was very disappointing, okay it was to a budget but a continental breakfast is usually better than this. Parking - the hotel has np parking and overnight in Canterbury is expensive. We booked a parking very close for a really good price via Just Park.
The hotel is wonderfully situated in the centre of Canterbury. It's a budget hotel and we did not have very high expectations. However, the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Overall, the place feels a little tired but, for one night, it's absolutely fine. Free.e Wifi was a bonus
