Perfect Location and Good Memories of Trip.

The hotel was exactly as expected from an old traditional establishment so nothing to dislike.

Primarily booked for location. We were arriving via the A1 road and the hotel is only a few minutes away from the main road along a quiet country lane. We were visiting the area to attend a passing out parade in Catterick which was less than ten minutes drive. We were able to park our car about two yards from the door so no issues carrying luggage. Although close to a road it is a very quiet road and we never noticed any traffic noise. The hotel offered a comfortable and well equipped room although it did suffer s little from creaks in the floor boards due to its age. The bed was very comfortable and the room boasted a decent shower with VERY hot water. Being an old building the room offered normal wardrobes and drawers rather than the multipurpose hanging space and shelves offered by modern hotels. The small and cosy bar offered some rather nice beers and one could eat in the bar or move to the small restaurant. The menu was limited but perfectly good for such a small establishment. Our stay ended with a good English breakfast which was ordered the evening before.

    Very small shower enclosure.

Friendly and helpful staff who were flexible to my requirements and welcoming. Good food available from what I could tell, just a shame i didn’t have time to sample more of it. Ample space in the bedroom and a comfy bed, what more does one need?

A little dusting was required in places, Weetabix packets out of date 😳and electric shower in room 3 not very powerful.

Staff were fantastic from the welcome, to the bar to meal times. Food was really really good! Staff went the extra mile to sort our room out due to boiler issue (rectified) and rooms was super comfortable, well appointed and warm. Lovely place to stay.

Just a small thing but the only sockets were underneath the dresser so not so accessible for us more mature folks!

Great staff, the Lady on the bar ( think she said Ashleigh) introduced herself, happy and smiling, nothing too much trouble. Excellent Breakfast cooked to order, and hot. No awful toaster !!! Parking on site. Quiet location. Big spacious room nicely decorated. Evening meal good too.

A friendly warm atmosphere when we walked in. It had a nice feel to the place and a warm welcome. The room was lovely very spacious and good decor. It made a nice change that the family room actually had a second proper bed, unlike a lot of family rooms we have stayed in that have a fold out bed for the second bed. Big shower, and well appointed bathroom. We had a meal, it is a very popular place to eat, so even if you are staying I would recommend that you book a table in advance. A good menu with many vegetarian options.

Lovely country pub - rooms huge and comfortable, bed was heavenly, we slept very well. Everything spotlessly clean. The food was excellent - a notch above “pub grub” with interesting specials. Breakfasts are great. The welcome is warm and friendly - the owner and staff work hard to deliver a great experience. Great location close to A1 and beautiful Dales countryside. Highly recommend.
