Lovely privately run place. Quirky furniture in the common areas. Lovely staff who really wanted to help. Unusual, interesting hotel, just a little bit different from the norm and all the better for that.

Wow the place is magical !! You just need to see it and visit all the area in the building to be amaze by the place. Staff were all brilliant , food was very nice ( diner and breakfast) Room is very nice and very big ,,The shower had a lot of pressure and very hot and very very quiet.

Louise and her team excel in welcoming guests and providing first rate customer service. The breakfasts are superb, as are the competitively priced evening meals. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

The shower was very difficult to set. I could only get very hot water out. The mattress may need turning over to remove a dent where it's been sat on. The duvet was quite thin so it was cold, no heating on

Lovely property with attractive original features. A place of real character. Best of all are the staff who are so friendly. The greeting was - ‘would you like to sit down in the lounge and have some tea or coffee while I take your details’? Shelley and Jess gave us a delicious breakfast and spent time chatting to us afterwards. Just couldn’t do enough for us - or our dogs!

quiet and convenient

The room was a bit cold, but with the right heating setting it improved over night. Otherwise nothing to mention.

Fancy lounge area with several chambers, decorated with English old-style furniture. Breakfast was good. Room offered good value for money, peaceful area, wasn't bothered by any noise while resting there. Location is pretty remote and may be difficult to locate the entrance to the ground (we managed to miss it twice) but a short drive to Hastings. Staff was very welcoming and offered us tea on arrival.

What a find! We booked a long way in advance and got a really good rate. Excellent value for money. Great location, it was quiet overnight but very convenient for Hastings. Superb breakfast with lovely ingredients: my full English included hash browns and black pudding. Lovely view from the dining room. The bed was really comfortable, the shower was great. The showerhead was spotless: so often in hotels it needs descaling! The receptionist gave us such a lovely warm welcome, offering us tea or coffee on arrival. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful location, grounds and authentic building. Breakfast was delicious and service was very pleasant. Peaceful, pretty, interesting and lots of space. Welcoming entrance and reception room with log fire, for afternoon tea or nightcap before bed. Wonderful

Bed was a bit worn but still slept fine. Few cobwebs in our room. No blackout curtains.

Very warm welcome from both of the managers with traditional afternoon tea in a cosy historic lounge. Room was very clean and has all what needed. Both of the managers went extra mile by prepared takeout breakfast boxes as they don’t normally do. Nice dining area. Food was very nice and exceptionally fresh. Plenty of parking spots.

Mattresses a bit firm to our taste

Very friendly staff with welcome tea&coffee, perfect location for hiking in and around Hastings. Super breakfast (incl. vegan) and very worthwhile dinner options.

No shelf in shower to put toiletries etc. not enough lights outside / down driveway. Bed made loud creaking noises.
