How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

customer privacy entrance and bed was comfortable and clean sheets but they fridge was making noise while u sit to eat but other than that I enjoyed my stay. Thank you

Air stuffy. Sink and toilets are separated. Kitchen far from rooms. Reception non existent. Door stiff.
Kitchen has got free tea, powder milk and coffee.

There was someone in my room staying long term with serious hygiene issues. I stayed in a lot of places but never experienced such a bad smell in the room (dirty underwear spread on the table etc). Didn't want to make a drama as only stayed for a short while and was just coming over to sleep also wide open window helped a bit, but would have asked for a refund and moved elsewhere otherwise. Not sure how it could have been dealt with as I suppose staff cannot force residents to shower and wash clothes, but a pile of dirty laundry could have been deal with I guess.
Very nice location in the middle of a large park. Parking is a couple minutes walk away (on School lane) but had no issues with finding a spot. Tidy rooms and clean bedding. Functional kitchen.

Very well equipped hostel with everything you could need. Lots of choice if you needed/ wanted to buy food supplies at the hostel (at reasonable price too)- so no need to find a nearby shop. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. A lovely atmosphere around the hostel. Lovely garden and the area has beautiful parks and a duck pond you can walk around. A comfortable and quiet nights stay. Fully recommend.

Filthy mold covered showers (ceiling in particular), no rubbish bin by the sink (or soap). I had the feeling most of the guests in the dorm were long term residents from the way everything was scattered around the room - storage was essentially old benches put in the middle of the room between the beds.

The room was too hot and the there was no tissues in the toilet had to use my personal one and there was no towel either.

no proper air ventilation windows can not fully open, its just a hot weather that the problem but its not the problem with the property. I hope if we stay in a normal weather day it will be good to stay here

Harlow International hostel is situated peacefully in the middle of Harlow Park. It is easy to reach from the station and Stansted Airport. The room was clean and spacious and the manger recommended a nice café for breakfast. As I arrived late I was able to pick up my room key at 3 AM which was very welcome.

Everything, I've crossed all UK in a bike, and this is one of my best choices in 25days. Excelent location, the staff helped me to achieve my goal. Good kitchen and garden. It is quiet to stay a lot of days. In my first night here, I did an mistake, I slept in the wrong bed because I arrived in the middle of the night with a strike in trains and didn't understand what the host, Richard told me. My appologies once again Ricardo

Incredibly friendly owners,beautiful location at the park but still close to the centre,it is a hostel not a hotel,for some luxiorous hotels look somwwhere else,but this place offers great conditions,a garden,where you can have your meals and enjoy the nature,a kitvhen,where you can prepare your breakfast and moch more,thank you for everything

Very dirty room with cobwebs around, toilet was the same, bathroom the same. I am allergic with dust, it was very dusty and uncomfortable. No sitting area or small lounge. I felt pressured to leave by staff.
